It is very difficult to over water a 5-1-1 medium to the point of causing damage to the tree.  5-1-1 mediums have a very high aeration level even after soaking in water for a while.

Has the tree out grown the container? Also look to see if the the bark chips has disintegrated into a mesh.

Looking t the leaves, the tree is showing a deficiency of iron.  The tell tail leaf pattern of an iron decency is leaves with a green veins on otherwise yellowish leaf. Deficiency is often caused by high pH rather than shortage of  minerals.

You might also try hand pollinating the flowers with a little brush JUST as soon as the flowers open.

Pick when fully or mostly yellow

A citrus tree drops all its flowers before fruit develops due to stress from environmental factors like inconsistent watering (both over- and under-watering), temperature extremes (like a late spring frost), or nutrient deficiencies, especially a lack of potassium. Other causes include poor pollination, insufficient sunlight, or a young tree needing to focus on root development. The tree is essentially shedding its blossoms to conserve energy and resources when it is under stress or unable to support the development of all the fruit.

If your taste prefers a more bitter taste pick when the fruit is still in a somewhat green stage.  If you enjoy a sweeter taste, pick when fully yellow. However, know that Thomasville never gets really sweet.

I wonder if a red colored grapefruit would turn red in the UK?  The red color in grapefruit requires a LOT of heat during the fruit's growth.

While grafting healthy they green scions is is always first choice, I believe you could successfully
graft the light green scions you ask about.

Frequently ones finger to test for moisture can cause problems.  The top inch of soil frequently is dry, while the deeper soil still fully wet.  A better method of testing is by lifting the container.

Thank you for posting the video of this tree. It is amazing, and the scientist seem to be very  egger about the possibilities that this tree  could provide additional information concerning greening.

The internal eatable part of the fruit should still be fine.

Most all plants appreciate relief from 100+ degree temperatures plus the direct rays of the hot sun.  Be a friend and give it the  loving relief it needs, an the plant will thank you.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Giant kumquat & Nordmann seedless
« on: June 03, 2025, 05:45:46 PM »
A citrus fruit can have up to 6 seeds and still be sold as "seedless" in the United States. This is based on USDA regulations.  I don't know about Europe's regulations, or if they even have regulations on seed content.  Your Nordmann was probably a correct variety.

I don't know the insect type, but they are insect eggs.

I agree with  Galatians522 that it is rust mite damage.  Spray with soapy water, or a horticultural oil or neem.

I have a large Valentine pummelo tree about 18 years old. The flesh of a valentine fruit is very deep purplish/red, and very sweet.  It has no (zero) acid taste,
