Hi all, I'm 90% sure I bought these seeds on the forum in 2020, but the squirrels really did a number on my labels in 2021 and I'm missing any information about what these could be. They might be some kind of Sapotaceae...I just can't tell--the way the branches split is pretty unusual for Pouteria. And the young green stems have odd bumps. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a couple of unnamed seedlings growing well, but I haven't been able to track down any of the ~5 or so named varieties. Does anyone have any experience with these or know where to find them? Is there much difference between the varieties?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Diospyros texana seeds for trade

I had a few people who wanted Texas persimmon seeds and now I have a couple of leftover seed packages. I collected these from a very nice large tree in my area.

The fruit are the size of a large grape but very sweet. You squeeze the skin and the pulp squirts out, so there is no peeling required. The trees grow slowly though and are dioecious. I have never tried to grow them because it is relatively easy to find the fruit around the county. I am in Zone 8b and we get around 34 in rain per year, but I have seen these growing west of here where they get less, like 28 in rain per year. The water here is ridiculously alkaline (pH = 8) and they thrive in it. The fruit always ripen when it is over 100 degrees in August.

Let me know if you are interested. I like unusual species from the Myrtales, if you have something to trade.
