Alphonso and Kesar are available in the U.S. already.

Thanks for this info about Mancurad. I bought a box of Mancurad from Mangozz this year and all of them had internal breakdown issues.

I have yet not tasted Goa Mankur mango. I will write its taste comparison when I will taste one.
It fetches better price than Alphonso in Goa State. Goan people talk with pride about their Mancurad mangoes. So its must be very good. It has poor shelf life, hence it is not sold outside Goa state.
I did not like Mallika taste. May be it was not at its prime stage. Mallika has creamy buttery taste while dussheri has mild citrus flavour. Hence I will hope dasheri will fruit. Also I have planted amrapali tree, other hybrid of dasheri.
Lemon Meringue is not available here. Hope in future I will try it.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Seedless Lychee Order + Shixia Longan

Okvid, you may want to contact the UC South Coast Research and Extension Center (https://screc.ucanr.edu). I volunteer there and one of the managers said they would be trialing mango and other subtropicals/tropicals. Maybe they would consider helping in exchange for some trees.

My lychee and longan are new so no fruit or flowers yet. Here's a video of my lychees (Hak Ip and Sweetheart) plus longan (Biew Kiew and Ruby). https://photos.app.goo.gl/2wnTH47YXaEpyZtb9

Thanks for the perspective, everyone. Tru, it rained last week after a 10-day heat wave.  Both what you and Simon said about the tree dropping growth based on what the roots can support make sense.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Lychee Help: Terminal New Growth Falling Off
« on: September 17, 2022, 12:05:58 PM »
Hi all, my Hak Ip Lychee flushed recently and the terminal ends of the new growth are falling off. The rest of the new growth looks fine. I fertilized with low-nitrogen organics not long ago along with sulfur to reduce ph. I'm located in Irvine, CA

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Wireing avocado for training ?
« on: September 14, 2022, 02:22:27 AM »
I once used bonsai wire to train green avocado branches on a Sharwil on salt clonal rootstock from Subtropica. Some branches were oddly curved, twisted even. I wrapped bonsai wire around these branches and slowly bent them straight (or more straight). It worked, although one of the branches broke off in high winds months later.

To be precise, Catuai is a cultivar of Coffea Arabica.

Coffee cherries have very little pulp/flesh. The skin is edible though but it's best used for making tea.

I bought a Biew Kiew longan tree from them. The tree is solid with a trunk over an inch across. The tree was well prepped for shipping and has already pushed new growth since I bought it 2.5 months ago. One oddity is they used a burlap sack instead of a pot. Perhaps this might be bad for a tree with sensitive roots, but the longan did fine in the sack (set in a pot) for a few weeks outside.

This thread is a nice break from the norm. GEM has been so heavily hyped and after trying the fruit many times, I've never seen the reason based on flavor and texture. As for Nabal, I've never had one that was better than a prime Reed.

In terms of Malama, I've had subpar growth from my 2 year old tree from Epicenter. It was bent at a 90 degree angle when I bought it, which I suspect was due to the scion they used. I straightened it over time through staking and it is finally starting to fill out over the past few months. I've also grafted a scion onto a Sharwil on Dusa to see if it grows better on a clonal rootstock.

Hi I am interested in the mango seed pack if still available.
