Citrus Soil Acidity
(1/1)
Mysta:
So I have a brown select, owari, sumo, meyer lemon, and pink variegated in ground.
Did a soil test and the acidity is around 5 for most of the yard(clay) so I assume adding a bit of dolomite lime and 10-10-10 or 20-20-20(or 20-10-20) is not a bad idea?(from what I understand shooting for around 5.5-6.0 would be more ideal?
1rainman:
I would probably add perlite and sand which will move the needle closer to neutral and improve drainage. I dont know what the ideal acidity is for citrus. They seem to do good in potting soil and sandy soil and potting soil is acidic they dont seem too fussy. They just dont like prolonged soggy roots is the only thing I noticed.
Millet:
Ideal pH for citrus growing medium is 6.5. However, any soil between 6 and7 should be fine. Just be sure to be under 8.
