If the fd stock in not causing a problem is it that the scion is causing it to grow much faster than it normally would. I have never saw a fd tree with a large trunk. I have several trees with benching but no obvious problems.

I haven't been there myself but a friend told me that the trees are grown to be planted in a grove not looked at by a collector. Several of my trees are from there and have done good.

What is the growth habits of your tree, is it spreading or upright growth. My Kishu is almost semi dwarf looking even though it is on Swingle rootstock. It is wider than it is tall. Compared to other trees the same age it is small but very productive. Fruit are small somewhat concave top and bottom.

To me it seems to be as hardy as oranges bet it was protected by the house until the fruit got ripe. The fruit here is not red.
