First Variegated White Sapote
« on: January 18, 2022, 01:25:34 AM »
I was grafting my sapote today and almost cut off this special branch. I did not know that it had some variegated leaves/branch starting to grow out. It just grew out in the last 2 weeks on my multi-grafted (28) white sapote tree. One leaf is almost albino and the shape is different, much more wider than normal.

Check of the leaves, if anyone else has a variegated white sapote plant, please take some photos or comment about yours.

Is that a sport of the tree?

Yes, this new branch is growing right below the same branch that was grafted with Vernon shown in the photo.

You have 28 white sapote varieties on one tree as well?

I had 34 different varieties grafted on the same tree which had the variegated new scion shown above.
But I had to dig up this larger tree so I ended up cutting most of the long grafts from this tree. I hope to save most of my varieties on two other smaller trees I have in ground.
