How screwed am I?

lrome04:
I did a bunch of tbud grafts on some citrus a couple of days ago but I realized I may have messed up! I used parafilm to secure the grafts. Unfortunately, I ended up wrapping over all the buds! From what I've been reading, I was supposed to leave the actual bud uncovered and only secure the edges.

Would it be a bad idea to remove the wraps and redo them with the buds exposed? Or should I just let them be and pray they don't suffocate/rot

kumin:
Depending on the amount of stretch used during the film application, one layer thickness shouldn't be a problem. Multiple layers may prove to be more difficult to push through. I wouldn't expect there to be an issue until the bud forces. Pushing the film a bit to the side at the exact bud location at the point of the buds enlarging should allow for bud emergence.

vnomonee:
I've always covered the buds, even twice but making sure the film is stretched over them. The buds eventually break through and/or the film breaks down in the sun and will split on its own

lrome04:
I did stretch a good amount when I wrapped over them but I also did go over the buds like 3-4 times lol first time doing citrus with this method so I wanted to make sure they were pretty secured on there. But now my primary concern is them needing some air circulation and potentially rotting

I figured I would just keep a close eye on them and uncover them as soon as they healed or I noticed them swelling

toehead:
I had a few stall when wrapped too tightly (more than one layer of parafilm). I was able to get them going again by carefully cutting away the wrap from the bud.
