Broadleaf Papaya Seeds - Excellent
« on: January 25, 2015, 07:55:04 PM »
Limited amount of broadleaf papaya seeds for trade and or sale.
Please send an email to bertonsilva at hot
mail dot com
The seeds are extra fresh and come from the largest fruits. So far, the biggest fruit was approximately five (5) lbs.
This papaya variety is very ornamental  and very productive. The fruit is very sweet with no after taste.

Berto the bisex ones were a bit more elongate here.Did yours have dark leaf stalks and reddish veins in the leaves? My one is history and I didn't plant any more.

Galka not dark like these if you look at past threads. They do vary however, in how dark the leaf stalks are.The fruit look like the ones I had on the bisex broadleaf that fell over at my place.
A funny thing is that I was calling it papaya with broad or oak leaves and just started calling it broadleafed  papaya because it didn't seem to have a variety name
The variety was 'contained' until I spread seeds everywhere and it might never have got into circulation if I had followed the lead of some people I know.I will check with Berto if it is the offspring of mine which I suspect it is.

Mike,
My papaya is the offspring of yours. The leaves do not have the purple veins. However, the stalks get a bit of a purple color at the end.
My "tree" is planted next to a male "giant Cuban" papaya. Maybe the seeds I am trading will produce something extra special!
Can you imagine a broadleaf dancing cha cha cha with a giant Cuban? Hahahhahahahahahahaha

A broad cuban doing the rumba would be something to see.Berto if you grow a few seeds you could select out any with darker leaf stalks for planting at 6 inches high as they are very ornamental.

Mike,
I planted some seeds already! Let's hope for a hybrid with dark leaf stalks! I will report later!
By the way, thank you so much for spreading this very special papaya!

Mike,

I think we need clarification -- are you hoping to see a broad cuban or a cuban broad doing the rumba?

I have never met a Cuban broad let alone seen one doing the rumba in the garden but sounds like a fruitful activity.
