Cassabanana--red vs. purple fruit

I see that there two types of cassabanana fruits (Sicana odorifera) a red fruited variety and a dark purple fruited variety.

Is one preferable over the other or do they both taste and produce the same?

There are many other colours also and yellow is quite common. The variation is quality and taste is quite modest. They are not a fruit to set the world on fire and keep you awake at night marvelling over it.
