i constantly see these two mixed up, what are the differences, if any?
I'm on the hunt for jaboticaba, Eugenia, Pouteria, Passiflora, and annona fruits (like the fruit part), if you have any to spare, lemme know!  I'm also looking for any plants that could bear fruit soon :)

They're both old synonyms of Annona mucosa!

ah, thank you for clearing that up. sometimes i see both mucosa and deliciosa listed as two separate species even on the same website!

I think that it was renamed rollinia deliciousa because mucosa was a terrible name for a commercial fruit (kinda like rapeseed oil)

but at the same time i think that there can be a fair bit of difference between them as the renamed version are commercial selections of improved varieties and from what ive been told from people that have visited the US is that they taste very different and the varieties in florida are quite terrible in comparison. if you look at the fruit shapes too they can be quite different too.

One is delicious, the other snotty?

Actually, they are delicious and snotty. The name should be rollinia deliciosamucosa.

For those growing, consider freeze drying for a crisp texture.

Hey Rob,
a little off topic, but thanks for the info, lol I finally splurged on a freeze dryer! It's amazing!
I'm sure rollinia would do amazing freeze dried.

Regarding naming yeah there's sometimes synonyms for the same sp. due to name changes etc.
The rollinia group got classified into the annona group a while back I believe, so now it's annona muscosa. I think that's the best terminology right now.
But anyways, nature defies strong categorization so we do what we can do....

I remember reading somewhere that Rollinia Deliciosa is just a giant version of Rollinia Mucosa...
Could that be correct, or is it rubbish?

No difference and they are Annona now. Deliciosa no longer exists.

There are variations within species that have mistakenly been attributed to these different names.
