Is this a seedling Pawpaw?
(1/1)
fliptop:
I bought Pawpaw seeds from tradewinds and sent most to friends up north, but I did plant a couple here in pots. Can't remember which pots, though, and think this might be one of them.
Does this look like a Pawpaw seedling? If so, is it going to die if it stays in this ~1gal pot much longer?
Thanks!

Yes, it actually looks like a pawpaw seedling. In my experience, it can stay like that for a while. Of course, it would be better to repot it, as it would ideally like to grow a straight taproot. But in a pot that is too small, it lets its taproot grow in circles at the bottom of the pot. Caution is advised if you want to later transplant it into a larger pot or plant it outdoors, as the roots are sensitive to damage. Attached are few pictures of pawpaw seedlings for comparison.

Thanks, usirius! Hopefully I can get this up to a friend up north before planting in the ground is too problematic.
