looking for Tahitian taro. I have a variety for corms, but hear that the greens from Brasiliensis are better. Anyone have corms or plants for sale or trade? Thanks! D

2
I got Chaya from Rodney 2yrs ago. It is the most vigorous Chaya I've ever had. Highly recommended! D

3
They do grow very slowly, but they are really tough. The largest one I have after 8 or so years from seed is about 7 feet tall. Just watch the flowers. Upturned is female. Hanging is male. D

4
Texas persimmons are either make or female. The male flowers look like a bell. They hang. The female flowers are up turned. How old are they? D

I add it to my compost teas. It's supposed to increase microbial activity. D

I hate to say this, but the older you get....You'll be fine. Just stay the course. One foot in front of the other. The excitement will come back. D

I've been reluctant to comment on this one but here goes. I planted tsu li  and ya li pears around 10 yrs ago. I'll check my orchard map, but one died of fire blight within a few years. I replaced that one and it isn't going to make it either. The other one is the best looking pear I have. Big, We'll filled out, but no flowers yet. I have a keiffer as well, and it has made some sparse fruit. I think it will pollinate the ..li.. I still have if it ever flowers. I think it's too late this year to get viable scion material, but I'll send some next year of the keiffer or the ..li.. If you want.

Hey Nullroar, If there is an Asian near in your vicinity you can get a bunch of dioscorea there. And other tubers you can propagate. Check Cesar's list on the first page. Some of these are temperate. Have fun! D

9
The last couple of years I have propagated a bunch of dioscorea with varying soccess. The alatas went crazy. A few other types did o.k. About January when the vines had all dried out and some bulbous started dropping I carefully collected the bulbils and brought them into the house. Early March I put them in pots and back outside. Then the critter raids started. Everything got mixed up and no labels were left in place. Guess I'm going to have some now unidentified dioscorea....

The Thai dwarf mulberries I got from Kevin are growing like crazy and are fruiting prolifically. I keep pinching most of the fruit off so they'll concentrate on growth, but they just set more fruit. Thanks Kevin! D

I think burnt ridge nursery has lumas. I couldn't keep them alive. They don't like the Houston heat. D

Really happy with the yacon material Evan! I'll have a bunch of tubers in a few years. Thanks much. Dan

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: I can't taste fruit
« on: January 27, 2022, 06:39:40 AM »
I caught something around Thanksgiving and it went for a couple of weeks. Pretty mild, just tired. Did lose taste and smell. Taste is back but smell is still a bit weak. You'll be fine. D

Very pleased Kevin! Really nice Thai dwarf plants that are covered in fruit and cuttings that should root readily. Thanks Kevin!

I had it in early December. Ivermectin (horse paste) knocked it back. Never got bad. D

Pm sent. I appreciate your generosity Kevin. Dan.

As I remember one of them is eryobotria elliptica? I think they grow in the Himalayan foothills. D

There are some good threads about Spring blooming loquats. Just search for them. There is good evidence of Himalayan types that Spring bloom, but I don't think they have been imported. D

Impressive. I'll try that. We are just now dipping into the 50s and will warm back up. Hoping they will stay on the vine another month. Thanks! D
