Pitangatubas and spider mites
« on: August 23, 2024, 08:43:23 PM »
I am considering adding a pitangatuba to my collection, but I have a seemingly unlimited supply of spider mites in the winter due to growing in a z6 climate.  How big of a challenge will the mites pose when I bring my plants in from the cold?

I have recurring spider mite infestations in my greenhouse and I don't think I have ever seen them attack my pitangatuba or any other eugenias.  I think you are about as safe as you can hope to be.

Spider mites seem to be worst on annonas for me, followed by citrus.

Thank you.  I feel much better about rolling the dice on this plant.

I agree, I have never had them go after any of my eugenias. Their favorites at my place are citrus, papaya,  and my poor frangipani, that get just covered if I don't stay on top of them.

They decimated my jackfruit and have attacked my starfruit and mangoes, they never bother my cherimoyas
