I have two potential options for rootstock, US-897 or swingle.  Is either more cold tolerant than the other?

Citrus General Discussion / Branch split due to weight of fruit
« on: July 25, 2020, 05:12:32 PM »
I have a branch on my brown select that split due to the weight of the fruit and ppssibly wind.  My question is, if I can stake the outermost branches to support the weight of the fruit and try to hold the split together with some type of wrap, will the tree heal the split itself?

The tree was subsantially larger before the record freezes we had this past winter but still had the same issue.  What disease is this?  It pits holes in the leaves and kills new growth.  What can i do to get rid of it permanently?  Ive tried copper sprays but it didnt solve it.

Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / Sugar belle seeds or grafted tree

I have been unable to locate any sugar belles.  Does anyone know a source for a grafted sugar belle (Harris Citrus does not have it available) or seeds?

Citrus General Discussion / Issue on bark above graft on meyer lemon
« on: June 03, 2017, 11:14:26 AM »
I didnt notice this until yesterday, but underneath the canopy and above the graft, there is a chunk missing out of the bark.  Fire ants are going in and out of it.  I dont know if it was cold damage from this past winter or what is the cause but i want to know what to do.  This tree right now appears to be completely healthy and is currently the most vigorous out of 25 or so citrus trees that I have.  It appears wet because i sprayed some diluted hyrdrogen peroxide in it prior to taking the photo.  Does anyone know the cause and/or a solution to this issue?

Here is what the tree looks like from above showing no symptoms of the issue:

Citrus General Discussion / Record Buck Citrus Satsuma
« on: April 25, 2017, 11:29:23 PM »
Home Depot carries what is labeled as "satsuma tangerine" from record buck grafted onto kuharski rootstock from Florida.  I have not been able to find any information as to exactly what variety of satsuma it is.  My guess would be owari as it is the old standard standard satsuma variety but was wondering if anyone on this board had any more knowledge as to the variety?

Does anyone have some fresh vista white loquat seeds or seeds of other superior varieties available?

Citrus General Discussion / Issues with Citrus Leaves
« on: May 25, 2016, 02:18:16 PM »
I am having some issues with three of my citrus trees, what two have in common is little to no growth this year (the limequat has had decent growth):

[If you click on images it will pull them up full-size in new window]

Washington Navel (black spots almost looks rusted on leaves--leaves are small and somewhat pointed upward):

Meyer Lemon (no black spots but leaves are pointed upward--top left of picture shows new growth with pointed leaves):

Limequat (dead/shriveled leaves on one branch while all the rest look healthy--I cut the shriveled area off):

Any advice on the cause and what treatment options are?

« on: April 16, 2016, 08:54:28 AM »
I was able to pick up a fukushu kumquat and a lemonquat this past week each about 6 ft tall when planted in the ground.  Does anyone know what the original varieties were that were crossed to make both of these?

Citrus General Discussion / Issue with Cemtennial Kumquat
« on: September 28, 2015, 07:53:37 PM »
I am having a lead curl issue with my centennial kumquat tree.  It has been watered overhead everyday by sprinkler.  I had put a decent amount of evergreen soil conditioner in too of the potting soil as a mulch/soil acidifir.  My guess is that it was due to over watering or salt buildup from the soil conditioner.  I didn't have this issue with the other cirus but this one has a lot bigger pot.  Can anyone tell me what the issue is and what I need to do so the tree doesn't die?
