Tropical Fruit Discussion / Indoor grow room thrip control
« on: June 28, 2022, 09:34:35 PM »
After months of fighting iv finally found a good way to get rid of thrips without any chemicals. Lady bugs and yellow sticky traps. I let loose 1500 lady bugs into my 5x5 grow room, i know it sounds like alot but they thin out quick after the big feast ,they dont eat any leafy material only thrips and other bad insects. The yellow sticky traps helped catch the thrips that started flying and didnt attract any lady bugs luckily. I run led lights with no problems of lady bugs grouping up around the light/heat. After a few days i noticed clean flushes and no more squiggles on new leaves. I will more than likely keep adding more lady bugs to keep all the insects in check! They will also eat scale bugs before they harden there is another lady beetle that will eat hard scale if anyone is interested its called Lindorus lophanthae. Iv tried green lacewings too for thrips with not great luck lady bugs are my goto! Hope this helps someone save some plants!

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Iso 1/2 inch caliper achacha scion
« on: January 20, 2022, 10:39:02 PM »
Moving some things in the grow room around today set a few trees to the side got side tracked to moving lumber.......well my dog helped me drop 3- 2x6x10s on my plants im not sure why i was thinking that was a good activity to do at the time (esp with the puppy running around lucky hes so cute lol). All other trees were good just a few small danglers. But my achacha took basically all the force and now left with a good rootstock. Was about 3 ft tall now 8-10 inches . I figure id try and graft onto it. If possible hoping to find a 1/2 caliper scion from a fruiting tree to graft onto it.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Tiny! Bugs on cuttings any idea?
« on: January 01, 2022, 11:42:36 PM »
Today looking at some cuttings im rooting and noticed these tiny beetle like bugs on them, Quite a few too. The picture is the best i could do but from what i could see with a mag glass it had 4 white dots and hard to tell but possibly a brown line down the center of its back. They do jump when you try to catch them so that made this pic extra fun! There actually kinda cute looking but usually thats a bad sign haha. If anyone could id these that would be awsome! In the one picture its in a paper towel dimple to give you idea of size.
