Those who ordered and got them, I am sure you are getting good takes??
I bought a GEM on a salt tolerant and possibly on a clonal rootstock. It was tiny for my taste but was the last one left at sub tropica. I transplanted it in a 15 gallon after bringing it home. It is full of flowers. Is it a good idea to pinch off the flowers now, or wait till it forms fruits and pinch off the fruits?

How often do you do foliar feed on your GEM? Do you feed it when the flowers are blooming?

I finally planted my sir prize from clausen in San Diego two weeks ago after buying it in January. The tree has been doing well. The guy Ray at Clausen told me not to fertilize the tree for a couple months. There is a foliar feeding formula using seaweed extract, fish emulsion, and sugar to get the tree to grow. Is it safe to do foliar feeding on this tree?
Reed avocado tree has become a beast at 12'H X 8' wide, coming back from a frozen stump in March 2018. 3 thick trunks, just beginning to flower. Love the big, red new leaves. Gorgeous tree. "Naked" cocktail cherimoya tree in the foreground, 3 varieties were from Behl, all took. Side veneer and cleft.

Second Pinkerton graft to push, this one at a permanent installation. Still waiting on another side veneer graft to push on this Bacon seedling rootstock.
Ive achieved avo 24/7 here in CA. Havent bought any for over a year.
Sir Prize is in season now. This is maybe my favorite avocado.

I have a tree or 2 starting to bloom. Its cold weather making it bloom.
The usual recommendation is horticultural oil or soap spray. I don't know about the scent additives but I can't imagine they would hurt. I use Dr Bronners unscented baby soap which has no detergents. It's kind of expensive so if anybody knows a cheaper solution let me know.
I have been fighting a cottony cushion scale infestation for *years* now. Soap spray keeps them in check but they keep coming back. Like you, I live in a temperate area where CCS isn't native and have not brought any new trees in for a while I know that I simply haven't eradicated them all from my trees. I am going to switch to hort oil in the fall when it cools off a bit.
My biggest issue has been that it takes forever to spray using a 3-gal pump sprayer. It takes me an hour and a half to coat all my trees. I tried two different hose-end sprayers and they were complete junk. However, you can find horticultural oil bottles with built-in hose-end sprayers (Bonide brand I think, maybe Bayer). I read somewhere these built in sprayers are far superior to the re-useable sprayers. I am going to try this, and if it works well see if I can modify the single-use sprayer to be re-useable.
