Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Root builder rolls question

Thanks guys!
Yes, the maple tree roots are a problem, they break the surface of the greenhouse floor in several places.

But at this point removing it is not an option. To clarify, it is only one tree.  It is 70 years old, and absolutely ginormous.  It keeps the greenhouse cool in the summer and is home to several sets of squirrels and a pair of screech owls.

We had three trees cut down to make room for the greenhouse, but even if we cut down our maple tree, there are still the neighbors tree roots. We have a pretty small yard, and the greenhouse takes up half of it.

The property line is just past the maple tree, and six feet to the right of the greenhouse. The rhodies you can see on the left are right up against the house. So yeah, it is pretty tight back there!

I guess I will see what happens!

Cheers, Carolyn

Have 100s of cherimoya seeds sprouting mostly pierce, booth and dr.white
Let me know if anyone needs them…

Curious as to what method are you using to sprout them?

Thanks

just cleanup thoroughly no pulp or sweet (to avoid mold).. sock in water for 24+ hrs, then placed in warm area, it took around 3-4 weeks

Awesome Greenhouse Brian! I’m about 15 min north of Philly, and have been considering building something similar ahead of next winter. This past winter I had everything (~50 citrus/tropical) in grow tents in my detached garage. But everything will be too big by next winter. Did you build it yourself? Any specs you could share? Incredible stuff!

Great video eyeckr, I literally created an account after watching it!

It would be awesome to get a seedless finger lime

While it's always possible (there are many mechanisms for seedlessness), it's worth noting both yuzu and finger line are pretty seedy, so that's not something to expect from crossing them. But when you cross such distant relatives you sometimes get unexpected results! That was really the point, the possibility of unexpected things. I certainly wouldn't expect their hybrid to be seedless.

I got 100% take on pecan pie cleft grafts onto lucuma seedling. Found it extremely easy to graft.

This was such a wonderful video! I had no idea about keeping jabos in larger bonsai pots to contain growth yet still get fruit, great tip.
