Which one do you mean?

For some reason my Indio always had sour fruits so I sold it. It did have beautiful fruit though. I have Kucle but I find it very similar to Fukushu but just a little smaller. Some say it is inferior to Fukushu but I feel like they are very close in flavor. Maybe it depends on how much heat the tree is getting while the fruit develops. I'm in zone 8 with hot summers so I get a good amount of heat here. For out of hand eating I'd prefer Kucle or Fukushu but for flavoring foods I'd use calamondin.

Not only taste is importand, but also productivity. Can you say anything about this?

Most of the seeds are identical.

Thanks all for sharing all that information. May I expand my original question to even Kucle?

So, you would say Calamondin is better than Indio?! How about the sugar content?

Both are Kumquat x Tangerine. Can anyone who has both compare the taste of Calamondin with Indio?

Not from my own experience but from what I read.

Are most of the citron varieties the same to Buddha's Hand in regards of their taste for fresh eating and how does the rind compare to Amalfi lemon, which also isn't bitter.

Who has experiences with the Sunrise lime. How about taste and blooming capabilities?

Meiwa is true from seed.

Do you have pictures with fruits?

Thank you so much sc4001992. Very, very helpful. Can you also say something about Fukushu/Changshou?

Meiwa is the best by far.  It can be picked while still half ripe an have a sweet peel with a somewhat sour flesh.  You can leave it on the tree until orange for a sweet interior.  The Nagami, Fukushu, Nippon, and Indio need to stay on the plant till fully ripe to have a goo tasting peel.

Sorry, my question is not about fruit quality but about the quantity you could harvest from a tree.

My question was not about the used rootstocks but about the different varieties like Marumi, Meiwa, Nagami, Indio etc. compared to each other.

Citrus General Discussion / Productivity of kumquats and their hybrids

There were a lof of discussions about the taste of the different kumquat cultivars and hybrids like e.g. mandarinquat. How about their productivity and yield when directly compared?

I am really astonished that Marumi tasted better than Meiwa.

How is Nameiwa (cross between Meiwa and Nagami) compared to Nordmann Seedless in regard of taste?

The seedlings are starting to wilt and then die. I don't think it's a light issue.

Citrus General Discussion / Kumquats seedlings dying
« on: November 18, 2023, 08:29:51 PM »
Many of my Kumquat seedlings are dying. I think I do not keep them too wet or too dry. What could be the reasons?

Would love to see as many informations as possible about those quat hybrids.

Nagami x Meiwa: did he receive any seedless habrids?
Nagami x Limequat: how is the taste of the fruits and how is the rind?
Or are those hybrids still too young?
