If kohola is the most cold hardy, anyone got seeds of it? Since seed grown is more resillient. I would be interested in buying some. Ty.

I had an illama and I have a cherilata that were grafted on pond apple and both
had issues at the union. The illama was the worst and had a boot that looked ready to
snap. The atemoyas in my yard that were grafted onto cherimoya you can barely
see the union or not at all

It helps to look around the surrounding neighborhoods to see what's already growing.
Be prepared to protect the younger trees the first couple years. I lost a couple young mangos
this past Winter when we had 2 nights of frost. My bigger trees are loaded with flowers/fruit

If you use buddy tape or similar, I don't take it off unless it's visibly causing an issue. Never had a problem, it just degrades in the sun and then falls off eventually.

I didn't use buddy tape I used a grafting tape that is like an inch thick and
like saran wrap. It was very easy to get tight.

I am in 9b Florida and last year my yard was under 32F for 5+ hours.
Both of my black sapotes lost allot of branches and all their leaves but both came back strong.
One is around 8' and one is closer to 6'.
We had frost this year two nights in a row and it burned a few leaves but they
look like they will flower this year. Last years freezing night was the end of January.
I waited until mid March and trimmed everything off that was dead which was most
of the smaller branches and all the leaves were dead.

That's interesting! Every atemoya and sugar apple I have ever grown the fruit
drastically improves the second year.
