I remember you told me they were very tasty so I made sure to take good care of them...once the plant was big enough ...every time i would go to starbucks id get the extra coffee grounds, and i had the whole family pee by that tree whenever they were outside:)...pee by the tree...that is my motto

i got my seedlings from Oscar 10 years ago and it first fruited at age 7....they are yummy indeed...even the skins soaked in water make a very cooling drink!

im sure most plants/fruits help a little...is there any that are extremely useful?
someone told me coconuts...then someone else told me coco's are not good as they absorb the bad stuff in the nuts?

505
Maybe soon it'll fruit then hopefully...our ones in the ground took that long ..one or two fruits on the 6-7 years..then lots after that...they are so tasty...they should be more widely known...

just wondering if anyone has tried..as it would make a great bonsai looking porch plant.

Just wondering if anyone out there has this type of coconut..or others...do they ship plants of them?

looking for different types of fe'i banana cultivars..the deep orange fleshed ones...in the book (specialty crops for pacific islands) we see many kinds of fe'i from the Solomon islands...plus other carotenoid rich ones from Pohnpei.
in hawaii i  only have seen the  one type. im hoping someone has the others...maybe the wild seeded ones...

Hi
Will a rambai male pollinate a Mafai female or vice versa, how about tampoi? And B. Dulcis? Would the result be a possible new species?
I have many male trees of rambai, tampoi, and B. dulcis. Is it possible to graft females of other species on to males?

515
Thanks!
I ordered the beer making yeast...but it might not make it here in time for Mafai season. (That you mention Oscar) ill try these ways for the first batch.

For shipping ...what the right way to clean seeds and have them still be viable for growing. Specifically Mafai , chupa chupa, kuini.

aloha!
my name is Micah and i love to grow and eat things that are from our earth.  i live in waipio valley hawaii with my wife and two kids.  we grow taro and over 100 tropical fruits and nuts.. im always trying to expand the garden with other pleasantrees. ive been surfing the net for years looking for sources of the rarities from around the world. i have a small seed permit for importing seeds to grow. i love the fact that we do a service to all mankind by growing these treasures to perpetuate them for future generations all the while eating healthy saving money and helping our earth/air/soil...seems to me a win win situations. i growing the seeds of the trees i feel worthy to spread out on the island.  my family does a horseback riding trip by the orchards with samples sometimes as this helps spread the word of these tasty treasures. :)
