Here is an update video of our yard 5 months after "G's" video tour.

Yes, thanks "G" for coming down and doing the video, the last one I did was 8 years ago. A lot has actually changed on my property. I'll do a little update. We've got Pawpaws, jackfruit, chico, lychee, canistel, grapes, pomegranates, blackberries and bananas ripening now. Also the anonnas are all setting fruit.

Down here in Chula Vista the rain was fine. Just the wind came up on Sunday and it broke several limbs on my airlayered wax jambus and also a couple of large limbs broke on my Pitomba tree. Surprisingly none of my Pawpaw fruit got blown off, although i did lose some almost ripened lychees.

I grow and fruit Pawpaw and Cherimoya next to each other here in San Diego. We only get about 70 chill hours. I fertilize with a super bloom and hand pollinate, except for "Sunflower" that will set fruit on it's own.

56
Here is one of mine on a tall post with rebar, I have only cut a few pieces but have not cut it back. Right now it has over 30 fruit developing.

57
Hey sorry we didn't get to meet up this time. Glad your trip was good.

I have a seedless lychee from a tree in Fallbrook that is flowering now. The seed was planted in 2016. The tree is about 5 feet tall and pretty skinny.

I grafted a Luc's onto an in the ground Imbe 5 years ago, it is now 12 feet and grows straight up. No flowers yet, but it grows reasonably fast.

This is the Mary Ln. variety I found a few years ago in an empty field. Many of you have started grafting them. This is a smaller size fruit, but the taste is like a Carmel Pawpaw, very smooth, no bitterness.

No,

Concha Lisa is one of the best cherimoyas I have growing. Lisa is a mediocre Atemoya.

I got three of these named Coronata #1, #2 & #3 when I was in Florida a few years ago from Adam.

Does anyone know what this one could be?

Thanks,

Mark

63
It does ok at my place, but would do better in a warmer area. I'm close to the coast and don't get a lot of production. So if you are inland you should get good results. I don't have problems with powdery mildew also.

Thanks,

Mark

Is anyone (besides Champas) selling mango scions right now? I would love to buy some, especially from Cali folks.

James

James, I have plenty of varieties I'm going to list for the California people, and others that are still grafting. I'll put a list up soon.

67
I've got several airlayered "Brewster" lychee trees for sale from $65-($450 fruiting)
I'm located in southern San Diego.

I will upload images of the 15 gallon fruiting ones later.

68
I've have a large flowering Campomanesia guazumifolia for sale at $350

Sorry I can't ship it. I'm down in southern San Diego.

I also have a large Campomanesia Xanthocarpa for $300 and also a 15 gallon fruiting Eugenia myrcianthes or Ubajay for $300.

Below are the photos of the Guazumifolia, the fruit is not my image.

69
There is a mature one at the "Quail" SD Botanical gardens that always looks good. I've never seen fruit since most varieties need a male and female. I think the "Montgomery" variety is self fertile.

70
@mark your tree in the pick is pruned to 8 ft and fruiting?  good size!

Yes, Lance

I have pruned the tree a few times, and the tree keeps producing. The only problem is if they set late in the summer then the fruit won't mature because of the cold.

71
Younstill getting cherimoyas from your yard Mark?

Hi Brad,

Yes I have a couple of varieties that are very late. I also have a seedling Lucida that is real early.

72
I got a box from Mark recently. The cherimoyas were really good and went fast!

Thanks, glad they were enjoyed

I have a few weeks left in the season

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Callous on Longan airlayers
« on: May 18, 2023, 09:03:09 PM »
I'm checking in the group to see how people have dealt with big callous's on the airlayers. Someone helped me airlayer some longans, but they left some of the cambium "green" parts and they calloused over, there is still enough good roots in the rest of the rootball. I'm wondering would you cut the callous parts off or just plant it into the soil?

Thanks.

Mark

74
Picked up a box of cherimoya from Mark, fruit arrived in great shape.
Very good seller, highly recommend.

Thanks, glad they arrived safely

75
Like the title says I'd love to buy some passionfruit plants or green cuttings. Thanks in advanced. I'm interested in any and all varieties.

I have some Frederick purple passion fruit vines if you still need any. Thanks
