No keitt I do have kent in 7 gallon $50 and I can not ship to CA.
As Brad mentioned, your chill period sounds a bit marginal. Low 40-45 F (4-8 C) is ideal. That being said, Lychee does vary in what temp induces bloom. There are some Thai varieties that would have a much better chance of blooming with the chill you mentioned Khom being the most well known. I don't think there is anything that will bloom if you don't have weather below 15C consistently.I see your reasoning.
But then, how to understand that the best lichee growing areas also do not have consistent temperatures below 15C and nowhere near the 4-8C ?
Like Guangdong with coldest month with avg temp 16C (and oscillating between 14-18C), or Bihar with 15-17C ? Or even Taiwan with 15-20C ?
I think it is safe to say that lychee bloom is complicated. Since it only takes about 72 hours of cold weather to induce bloom, I don't think average temps are a good metric. I my opinion, lows need to be taken into account as well. Please read this article by Dr. Don Batten of Australia.

Looks like GreatLakesRareFruits is a Bellamy Trees customer. I'm seeing a lot of overlap between Kameron's recent auctions and this guy's selections, as far as species. Of course, they could just be sourcing their seeds from the same places. I don't want to criticize the guy too much or wish him ill, but those prices are far more than I believe those plants are worth, and I highly doubt I will ever purchase anything from his store. That being said, and has been argued about in various threads before on this forum, if someone wants to charge those types of prices, and someone else wants to pay those types of prices, they that is really up to them.
Ya it is! Got a pile of Sanford seeds!!!! If anyones interested in any of the seeds let me know!
I'd be more interested in what the graft union looks like under the wrap. Is it fully healed? Cherimoya grafts are known to shrink and fail even with a few leaf flushes. Definitely protect that union so it doesn't snap off and as mentioned cut those rootstock limbs.
I bought three cherimoya trees online from Mimosa Nursery in LA, and one of them arrived with a concerning looking graft union. I don't have experience grafting myself, so I'm not sure if it's actually a problem, but I would hate for this tree to die down the road due to this. If it's a problem, is there anything I can do to improve the situation?
I thought it was weird that the the nursery left so much growth coming out of the rootstock as well :/
Hammer, my growing conditions are very different than yours. I don’t know what would grow or taste best in your intense heat. Here in my very mild coastal SoCal conditions I really like Goldfinger, Dwarf Brazilian and Mysore. I have yet to try my Dwarf Red, Gros Michel or Raja Puri.

I've unfortunately dealt with a lot of people like Adam. I was lucky enough to foresee the potential for trouble and only paid him a deposit on a multi-grafted tree. I am certain that the excuse in his recent e-mail is not accurate, whether loosely based on truth or completely fabricated.
I was initially heartened to see the e-mail in my inbox a few days ago and the refund today. However, almost immediately after I received an e-mail from the Alabama Office of the Attorney General requesting that I confirm that I had received the refund he promised he would deliver. Although the initial letter from them months ago indicated that they were not going to investigate further, perhaps they received enough complaints to move forward. Regardless, I suspect I would not have received a refund had they not been involved.
They asked that I have any other parties who would like a refund from Adam contact them directly. Please message me if you would like the contact information.
hammer524, can you tell us a bit about your situation? You only have one tree? Is it a seedling or clone? If a clone, where'd you get it?
... and how big was it when it first flowered?
I planted this last weekend in ground, it was purchased from Greenlife nursery here. It lost a large branch in our monsoon last month. It was about this size. I've been leaning on its a rooted cutting. but Im not sure.
Huh. Did you get that this year? A couple of months ago I dropped by Greenlife after a visit to their neighbor (worm farm) and they had kei apples but the pots were marked male and female when I was there. They were definitely air-layered or rooted cuttings.
EDIT: Oops just saw that you got it a few years back. Interesting.

Okay I called Julian and he said he believes it is hermaphroditic because the scion came from a tree which has no others "in 45 miles" I think he said. He said he is going to update the description to this effect.
This is good to hear because I had already bought one before I read that they are strongly dioecious.

What part of the valley are you in? Im a few miles south of the biltmore?
Over in east technically, right in the middle of that Tempe/Mesa/Chandler/Gilbert tangle. Not too far from the Golfland.
It's actually a few degrees hotter in our neighborhood thanks to all the bare concrete to the point that for the last few years at least we haven't dipped below 35 and stays hotter summer nights, and I've had to treat things differently then people I know out in South or North or QC.
