SOLD OUT Russels Sweet Garcinia Seeds SOLD OUT
« on: February 13, 2023, 07:56:55 PM »
For sale are Russels sweet garcinia seeds.

They are $5 US each with a minimum order of 8.This species is dioecious! The fruit are extremely rare and very delicious with flavors of mango, pawpaw, orange, to my knowledge there are only 4 known female fruiting trees in the world? All in far North Queensland Australia which were all planted by Russel Francis who found this originally in Thailand about 40 years ago, they were unknown or described, initially thought to be an improved variety of garcinia dulcis. The fruit on the plate are 250g-250g which are average size I have had them over 400g.I can ship internationally from Australia by regular mail or express post.
Mick

There are more than 4 female fruiting trees in the world, but this is really rare.
Seeds are slow to grow for me. This is a great deal! I'd pick some up if I were you.

Hopefully some day in the future all of these different fruits will be much more accessible to the public. I know most of everyone on this site is on that mission already. I know I am. Definitely want some of these!

Add South Florida to the "pre mentioned" sites! Give me 10 years or so.

Such a beautiful plant, different from all my other garcinias.

Great deal on seeds, not easy to find.

I’ve been surprised at the resilience of this Garcinia variety.  I have a couple seedlings from Mick’s last seed distribution that I squirreled away in my greenhouse.  They made it through a summer of regular 105 F temps (sometimes hitting 110F) and several nights dipping to 35 F in the greenhouse over the winter.  No visible leaf damage or ill-effect thus far.  I did not expect this from a Garcinia sourced from a high tropical area.

i can only assume Joe will be the first.  last i saw a pic of his trees and they were big and ready to go into the ground.
