grafting question
« on: February 23, 2023, 06:29:09 PM »
I grafted 9 annona scions on Jan 31st
4 of them have multiple small leaves from several nodes
Do you think I should take the grafting tape off after 5 weeks?
I wrapped them very tight. I think it helped but I don't want to girdle
the trunks. The scions were 1/4" to 1/8" A couple other pushed initially
and paused

If you use buddy tape or similar, I don't take it off unless it's visibly causing an issue. Never had a problem, it just degrades in the sun and then falls off eventually.

I didn't use buddy tape I used a grafting tape that is like an inch thick and
like saran wrap. It was very easy to get tight.

The saran wrap type does eventually need to come off, but I would still wait awhile. A few months at least. But I've never had much success with that kind of tape, the buddy tape/parafilm type works a lot better, it breathes better and then usually falls off on its own.
