I'll post pictures soon but maybe you guys can help in the meantime.  I have a little sientalone tree that is flushing out and it seems like a bunch of small red ants have made it their new home.  I dont know if theyre damaging the tree but it doesnt look good to me.  I will say that this happened on another graft I had that was flushing out.  Has anyone heard of these little red ants camping out on new leaf growth?

Gnappi Ive heard of your Juicy Lucy.  I think Roberto posted its brix rating once amd said very good things about it.  Sounds very appealing by your description.  Im actually doing a couple myself.  Just as Scott described I'll be grafting them onto mature trees as well.  Polys will be left to compete in same pot and once they reach scion quality they'll get cut and grafted.  Same with Monos once theyre ready I'll keep cutting amd grafting onto trees.

Heres my list so far:   Madame Francis from Haiti, Mingolo and Banilejo from DR,  a bunch special Nam Dak Mai looking variety that the owner told me it was a totapuri seedling his father planted (some poly seeds some mono), Carrie, Royal Purple,  Orange Delicious, Banana Mango,  Irwin, Super Julie, Chokanon, Kent, Mahachanok, Zills Raw Honey, Haden, & San Felipe.   The most special to me is my "Mimas Nurse" project.

My grandmother who we all call Mima and all my friends also know as Mima spent some time recently in the hospital battling her diabetes.  We were talking about Mangoes in the hospital room and her nurse jumped in the conversation and said her mother had planted a Julie seed in her back yard over 30 years ago.  She claimed it was better than the Julies back home in Jamaica and Mima asked her to bring her some for me to plant a seed for her.  The nurse asked if it was ok being that Mimas sugar was literally in the 500s.  We said it was ok and she brought 2 mangoes.  I had it also in my head to plant the seeds in hope for something special to come out and wow they are special.  One sprouted with no leaves and just this most akward little stem kept pushing forward.  It grew to about 4 inches with no leaves and then all of a sudden grew leaves.  Then the other sprouted into what my grandmother said she's never seen before.  This seedling has the fattest leaves Ive ever seen and its extremely vigorous.  She begged me to keep that one with her and work it until it fruits.  I'll keep you all posted on my findings.  Also pray for Mima if you dont mind.  Thank you

I guess its the first time in 20 years Jamaican mangoes were allowed to be imported.  I found the distributors phone number and he laughed when I asked to buy some but sent me to a retail client of his.  Turns out he also brought in East Indians but the port of Miami held his shipment and they ended up rotting out while sitting in an extremely hot container.  Really sad to hear this happening to a local small business and know he lost out on thousands of pounds of Julies and East Indians.  He told me he'll be right back it next year with tons of optimism though.

We have one at my buddies community garden where I keep most of my stuff.  I'll ask him if he has anything tomorrow.

Kudos on using the airpots.  I wouldn't pug them just yet because theyre still pretty small but I would definitely top them at every intersection where there are more than 4 leaves that meet at the same point.  I would prefer short and stocky over tall and lanky when it comes to holding fruit.  Again kudos on the air pots.  Theyre expensive but work wonders on the initial root growth of any plant before transplanting into the ground. 

I think he's also the person that posted that picture of a baptiste next to a francique which ends up in google images. By the way, last I checked francique and francis are the same cultivar.  Regular people dont know what we know about mangoes. 😂

good project. these are mono varieties so it will not come true to parent, but you never know you will get something that is even better.

Just an update on all the seedling:

Theres quite a bit of Chaunsas that are sprouting.  The Anwar Ratols all look like theyre kicking off and 1 literally has a its first sprout along with a root.

Hello Everyone,

I just want to take the time to shout out Tropical Acres Farms for their exceptional service and level of knowledge.  Alex and his mother were a pleasure to work with and he even went out to pick certain varieties for me and everything.  Besides that he was very generous with his knowledge and I truly can appreciate the fact that he gave me some of his time to talk mangoes.  All the Mangoes were top shelf and his Duncans were outstanding.  That property is Ideal for Mangoes and Im not just hyping it up.   Just look at the ground for yourself next time youre there.
I also got a little 3 gallon of something special and I couldnt be more pleased about it.  Alex thank you for what you do for this community and your time.  I will definitely be back for more in no time.

Wow thats insane!  What a little wierdo creeping around for mangoes at 2am.  We should put a basket of mangoes on the floor in the front and stay up late tonight to catch him and teach him a little Florida lesson.  Only if he knew how much time you put into your trees.  Im sorry that happend brother.
