Hi everyone. I’m reposting this question from a separate thread to give it a bump. I am having pollination problems with my Vernon white sapote. It made a flush of blossoms this fall, but nearly all have aborted. This happened in the spring, too--hundreds of blossoms, but no fruit. The tree is otherwise healthy and is putting out new growth. The tree, probably about 6 years old and 6 feet tall,  is capable of fruiting, and it did so in 2022 (after blossoming in spring 2021). So, why is it failing now?

FYI, I don’t follow any sort of fertilizing routine. Thdd Ed tree is growing well enough that it doesn’t seem to need it.

The one I have labeled Vernon seems self fertile. Give a shot of bloom booster and see what it does. Hit 'em with some foliar iron and Micronutrients.

Put amdro ant bait at the bottom if the tree, then a shot of diatomaceous earth. Let them get that swet sweet ant bait. Kill the scale with neem oil and chrysanthemum.

Cracked this thing open. It had a bit if a funky smell like durian A little sulphur a little allium. The flavor was sweet maybe like a european table grape  but it did have a bit of a sourness and a bit of astringency.

Hi folks, has anyone found a good use for Dovyalis hebecarpa x D. abyssinica? From the fruit I tasted, it was pretty sour, and the texture was a little too mealy for my tastes. Has anyone made preserves with it? Dehydrated? Something else?

This a picture of the first lychee I have grown. Two years  in a container so probably years old. I purchased it at Pokey's in Florida.

I'd love to have some cuttings and fruit. The problem is I'm 3000 mile away. Anybody here ever root Kei apple from cuttings? shaneatwell, how does your Silber taste. I have been in the market for one for about 5 years. I read that they are sweet and not as vegetable tasting as other.

Stealing CA grown mangoes is certainly a travesty with how hard it is to grow them here... But at the same time, I kind of understand. Today's current reality is that very few people get to experience picking fruit right off the tree, maybe something they used to do in their home country where mango trees tower 50' tall and end up dropping thousands of pounds that end up rotting away. I couldn't believe the size of mango trees in El Salvador, they made even FL ones look small.

If I really had a yard to protect, I'd have a large fence / privacy hedge with a few choice trees on the outside for public consumption. I love when I get to share fruit, even with a stranger.

I one hundred percent agree...if it is on my terms. If I give it to them, it is a gift. If they take it is is a theft. Kids are kids for sure but I mean where does it end? Dave takes $10 worth, Carl takes $5 worth, Christy takes $40 for her "family", Dale takes a $1 worth. Old Carolina get none or just worst left behind. Other folks calling me stingy for my effort. I bought a Diamond guava seedling about 4 years back, after tasting one of the mature Diamond guava seedlings on a past visit. The trees were gone which I tasted the fruit from, so I had to asked Steve if he had anymore. He did have some smaller 1 gal seedlings of Diamond guava, so I took a chance and grew it out.

Is a Diamond the same as a red diamond?

Hmmm. Fruit thievery victim and former fruit thief here. When I was a kid (not starving at all) to me it was a plum tree. It was an apple tree. It was grapes. It was not property. I had no concept that someone worked to create it. If it was in someones yard it was luck that someone had it there so it was my luck to pick some fruit.

I am sure there are people who see it that way who are adults. People love to go into someone else's pockets to pay for what they themselves would never pay for.

I had this conversation with a neighbor who dared call my garden/orchard the community garden and invited someone into my yard to pick. She just couldn't get her head wrapped around the concept that "I made the effort for me". I planted the grapes and tomatoes and everything else and the abundance is mine. She watched me till and cultivate and never offered to help. Not a shovel of manure or drop of water did she pay for. She refused to plant the blueberry bushes or tomato plants  that I gave her. When I tried to explain to her that just because I had plenty she wasn't entitled to take it. I said to her,"Well you have gas in your car. Can I come by and siphon some out to run my tiller if I need it when you have a full tank?" Her reply, "That's different!"

BTW. There is no way if you confront someone with a gun or anything else you are not going to win, even if it is just anger. If there is no fence, wall, barrier, they will come.

I have some grafts that I wanted try to protect with foil. They are now pushing. When should I remove the foil?

I wish you had shown a cross section. Also it is difficult for me to tell the size that said yellow one looks like a canistel.
