Travelers may bring seeds of admissible herbaceous plants for planting if they meet the following conditions:

- The seeds are not otherwise prohibited, protected under the Endangered Species Act or Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, or subject to any special restrictions, such as post-entry quarantine or treatment*

- You have a phytosanitary certificate issued by the National Plant Protection Organization of the country you are leaving indicating the seeds are free of pests and diseases

- U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspects the seeds at the first port of entry and determines they are free of pests and diseases and meet all entry requirements

Some information on USDA websites indicates that tree and shrub seeds can be brought back to the US per requirements listed above, yet some sources say none can be brought back with passenger luggage. Best course of action would be to shoot an email inquiry to that listed email.

Female papaya's that dont get pollinated will produce seedless fruit, i believe they are considered parthenocarpic.
I prefer the taste of seedless papaya, much milder. Lucky find!

I highly recommend anyone in Zone 10b+ grabs at least a few Matoa from Lance. One of the prettiest trees I've grown and had great germination from Lance. I didn't experience any pests.
Lost it to a cold snap and wish I had the space to try again.

Not much literature but I would think investing in more than one plant would definitely increase the odds of fruit production.

An update for the current and future growers of this species:

At this point, I think its safe to terminate my plant (the other one died on its own accord) as the health issues are too persistent. I am still leaning towards fungal issues as the ultimate reason for their weakness and demise. New soil, micronutrients, pH adjustment, etc nothing seemed to help.

Initially after a series of fungicide baths, both plants were pushing clean new growth with healthier-looking, darker leaves. Then they shed those leaves, one plant died, and the other is pushing new chlorotic leaves with brown spotting (pictured below). Overall, I think I just got unlucky with the circumstances.

If you're working on a legitimate research project and don't want to spend too much on Inga laurina seeds, you can register with the USDA and snag some seeds from the Plant Germplasm database. Otherwise plenty of sellers online.

You could also consider Logees, a reputable seller and they usually have solid grafts. They are selling a Set of Susquehanna and Shenandoah, two great Peterson varieties.
Or see what aaronn's got cause honestly those KSU varities are fire.

I don't think ice cream beans are to die for, but all the ones i've eaten are very pleasant and sweet.

kankan has yours ever flowered? My tree was producing fruit within the first year. Year 2 is when the quality/taste got better. They love warm temps, full sun, and some humidity.
They only sell females commercially because its considered an invasive species, when a male gets involved they spread by the hundreds. I would suggest making sure you have a female prior to purchasing additional plants.

If you want a "small" one, I heard they are relatively easy to air-layer. Would be the best bet, otherwise they grow really fast (like most pioneer species) and large.
I would offer but I sold my tree about a month ago, as it was too large.
