In need of guava advice
« on: October 08, 2020, 10:29:14 PM »
Hi to all,

My young guava tree has been fully defoliated for about a month now, and is experiencing die-back from the top down. Interestingly, there is new growth appearing from the bottom and middle sections of the trunk. I would like some advice as to how I can stop it from continuing to die-back. The days have averaged approximately 16 - 17 C for the past month and has been watered only when the top soil has been dry.

Thanks.

PS. Moisture is 5.5 and pH about 6.8 according to the pictures.

Yeah that Guava (and the tree behind it) don’t look very happy. Maybe has to do with the location in your yard? Is it getting full sunlight 6-8+hours a day? Needs plenty of water and good drainage. Start with Checking the basics (sunlight, water, fertilizer) and make some adjustments. You can also post more photos of the location of these plants in relation to the building in the background. Maybe over shaded? At least the buds coming back are a good sign, the tree is still alive.
