Syzygium phillyreifolium

Anyone know how the fruit is on this? Saw one growing at UC Santa Cruz arboretum rare fruit collection.

Is it Cherry of the Rio Grande?
Usually referred to as Eugenia aggregata?
If so, it's like an intense cherry.

Some stuff I saw online said it was a synonym but other said it was from Madagascar. Not sure which to trust
