Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Growing Mango trees in Southern California

oh man, the preview for the thread said Growing....and then i saw BoxTurtle...but it was a username associated with the thread, and not part of the title, and i had  this vision of box turtles in pens underneath trees, and people were growing boxturtles, by keeping them fed on fruits and bugs that ate the rotting fruits......

but now i see this isn't what's going on here....

sorry, off topic rant....

bye now.

Interesting vid Adam. Wait for those flying saucers to land and you will be surprised. Those goose eggs should be laid on a few people as well because they are good. Lakoochas can be fair sized trees and the fruit taste a bit like almost ripe apricots with plenty of flesh. The kwai muks also can get big and are even more cold tolerant. The fruit are a bit reddish inside and surprising like a juicy fig. I think the shangs have a tomato flavour going on as well.

thanks ... i never noticed any tomato flavor on these shangs, just like strawberry jam, but tart, slight astringency, and texture of guava paste, I love themz, just wish they'd finally set fruit...had flowers so far, but no fruits, it's like a liana, not a true tree, behaving like bougainvillea...
