I've been growing one in a 45 gallon pot for at least 15 years here in Southern California. My mix is perlite, peat moss and maybe some sand and a little mulch. I acidify with EDDHA chelated iron and phosphoric acid mixed in city water. I fertilize with Growmore 10-52-10 and Hollytone. I keep mine in an unheated greenhouse year round and I get too much fruit.

I had one out of three successful airlayers on a large Sabara.

Here are a couple that are fruiting down here in San Diego.

No, you need to let the leaves shade the fruit. You can cut some back, but not where the leaves are protecting the fruit.

Bill, I think I Kimber red variety.  My question is after hand pollinating, the tiny fruits stay the same size (sesame seed size) for several weeks now unlike cherimoya and atemoya.  They don't drop.  They just don't grow.  Is this normal?  Thanks.
That is correct, I brought scions over from Florida in 2011 and had The Kimber Red and Green growing here in southern San Diego. The fruit will be pollinated in September and won't grow until the next spring, they get to golf ball size, soften up and then it is all seeds. The best way to go is get a Cherilata which gets to be a good sized fruit if you are in the cooler areas of California.

I'm in coastal San Diego and I've been growing one outside for 12 years. I got my seed from Belize. We get down to 38, but this one does fine in Mediterranean climate.

Does this one look like yours? I know there are a few types. This one has nice dark red/purple new leafs.

Hi Mark, I want to get a brewater tree for a friend if you have one available.

Sure Brad, I have several different sizes you can get.

14
Good offering for California growers also. My Gold Nugget fruits every year down here in San Diego.

15
Added more plants with price updates

16
My "Giant Mulchi" has been in the ground a few winters and grows slow, but has never been damaged by San Diego winters where we get down to 38 degrees.

17
More trees added

18
Yes, they look like male. Do you have anymore flowers?  On my tree different branches will have different sexes of flowers. I mean each branch that comes off the main trunk. At least that is my experience with my limited number of flowers.

Bill
Bill, there is another branch with flowers, so I'll have to check it.
Thanks

19
Those flowers are male.
Bummer, at least I have a few others to help it later. Since it easily grafts on Imbe, I was thinking maybe I could cross pollinate and see if the Imbe takes the Luc's pollen.

20
How big is the plant Mark?
It's about 6 feet. The one I have grafted in the ground is 12 feet, but no flowers after being grafted 7 years ago. Do you have any?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Luc's Mangosteen flowering in San Diego
« on: June 19, 2025, 03:28:21 PM »
With the keen eye sight SD Dan who was visiting my place, he found some flowers on one of my seedling Luc's. The seedling is from Luc's first seeds he sent back in 2015. Not sure what the flowers are, if anyone can tell,  let me know, they are still pretty new.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Any luck growing Santol in Zone 10a?
« on: June 18, 2025, 03:59:56 PM »
My friend and I have them growing outside in southern San Diego, however no fruiting yet.

23
Yes, I do have mango scions available, some are pushing buds now and some are not.

24
Added new items and discounts on many plants.

25
I graft Ross and Canistel both with no problem here in San Diego. I use a cleft graft and make sure the scions are pushing buds and the rootstock is also growing.
