So I was going to repot my sugar apple then found out that half the roots were dead...Every winter I noticed that it died back and then regrew the next spring...Is there anything to stop this? Is my soil to wet? Even though half its roots are dead it always fruits... The root ball is about 1.5 feet diameter and half the roots were dead even though it was in a pot for 5 years...

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Chestnuts- foraged and a hard to find tree

So I spent several hours foraging these. They taste like jackfruit seeds but are sweeter. Large meaty nuts that are sweet. They taste perfect when roasted. They can also be boiled but I find them hard to eat that way. A quite hard to find tree as the majority was killed out by chestnut blight. There was over 8 million trees before the blight hit in the early 1900s. Most of the trees you see are the Chinese chestnut variety as these are blight resistant.
I have some seedlings for sale $10 each. They sell for over $6 a pound if you are able to find them in stores. These are squirrel resistant as they are surrounded by a ball of spikes. Will also put out pictures of the tree later.

Finally had a successful graft! Grafted about a week and a half ago.....Cut the mulberry scion when the bud was right about to shoot out.  :)
Will post updates when it grows more and is able to be unwrapped.

I have 2 more spots in my greenhouse for in-ground trees and want to put some mangoes there. Already have mallika and ndm, but want to topwork the ndm because of anthracnose. What are some recommendations? What are some of the top varieties? Also have a question about planting mango seeds. Do I have to remove the husk before planting the seed? Or can I just throw the seed in some soil?

I know that its used to help seeds germinate, but has anyone used it to make fruits seedless? In Korea they use it to make grapes seedless when they are growing and I was wondering if it would work with other types of fruits.
