Also known as kooboo berry. I've only found one seller online, but for some reason this plant doesn't come up as an option, even though it isn't a non-allowed plant, when I attempt to do a small seed permit.

Maybe someone has seeds or plants?

I'm interested in 2. PM me payment instructions!
Edit: scratch that, I just realized I still had your info from a few months back. Sending payment!

Nice! Let me know if you ever do have some cuttings, or rooted cuttings. I'm happy to buy a couple. In the meantime, I'll reach out to fermamo2002 and keep my eye out for something.

I see Jibril Enterpise has had these, but not in the last couple years. Hoping these are available soon.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: The "Cerrado Curse"
« on: November 16, 2022, 04:31:00 PM »
What has been your experience on germinating Cerrado species? I'm thinking of trying a few, here in Phoenix. We've got salty clay soil here, and rarely get winter rains. Seems like we've got part of the formula to grow them, but not sure. I've been tempted to buy a few seeds from you, but is there a most successful time of year to get these going? Any tips?

Well I just spent a week in the Cerrado collecting species. The winter months are completely dry. Zero rain for 4 months and high fire activity. Then it rains for 5 months. The winter can get down to 3C and less frequently below zero. The entire region looks like compact sand and red clay. The fruit are amazing. I have a bunch of cerrado species that are getting bigger.

How large are the fruit, what is the flavor like, and how soft/hard are the seeds?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Red quandong experiences?
« on: August 26, 2022, 10:20:04 AM »
I just made a purchase from Wildlands Farm (Hey, @nattyfroootz... I forgot to include my free shirt!  :D )

Anyone have experience with Red Quandong (Santalum acuminatum)? I think it'll do good here in Phoenix, but not sure about extreme sun and heat tolerance. Australian deserts might not compare well to ours. I've got an acacia tree I can put it near and that might give it the host it needs. I only got one baby for now, and I'll probably add a second tree, after a paycheck or two, in case it's not self-fertile.

But beyond that, and a few articles online, I'd love to hear what people's experiences have been?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mystery seedling from tossed seeds
« on: May 29, 2022, 12:13:24 PM »
When i give up on tropical seeds, i have a habit of tossing them in the yard. One last chance on their own. But i end up with mystery seedlings when it works! Not finding a match in my old seed envelopes.

Maybe someone recognizes these?

you've got an eBay post for a plant I've been seeking. You understandably caution shipping to Arizona.

in your experience, how often have you heard Arizona confiscating plants you've shipped?

Just wanna weigh my gamble. :)

14
Just got a reply from the seller you suggested.

His answer is:
"inconclusive but I think dioecious"

15
I'm considering buying one or two of these. I also have some seeds. But I don't know if this is monoecious or dioecious. Strangely enough, I can't find the answer from the articles I see online.

thanks!

Are you able to deliver to Arizona? I know that's another state that can be problematic

Seeking seeds or seedlings of Sideroxylon obtusifolium (jungle plum)

I'm in Arizona, if there are shipping issues.

22
Got my Davidson's plum! Well-packaged and survived the trip. And someone snuck in an extra plant! awesome!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Id: Chilean guava, or something else?
« on: March 27, 2022, 08:00:19 PM »
Hmm… I don’t think cas guava, i’ve got a little one of those & leaves are rougher, less glossy and more defined veins. The rose apple looks a lot closer, but the veins aren’t quite the same, judging by online pics.

Probably stuck waiting for flowers. Boo. Maybe it’s just a new morphology of ugni!

« on: March 27, 2022, 07:35:22 PM »
I’ve got a happy little 3yr old plant grown from seed (trade winds). It was labeled chilean guava/ugni molinae. It hasn’t flowered yet. But whenever I look at pics online, the leaves seem different than my plant. Shorter and curled downward on the margins (deflexed). Mine almost looks like some eugenia, but … maybe i’m just impatient to know because I haven’t seen flowers/fruit yet.

I have adamantium seedlings if no one else can provide

Cool! Feel free to pm me if/when they're ready, to talk cost 'n such. I've only found Tradewinds having offered seeds, but out of stock. No seedlings.
