I had the same issue: paid for shipping, seeds came in the letter envelope with a couple of stamps and i was required by the post office to paid more on the delivery.

My 4 yo Redlands ws is alive. Lost all leaves but does not look harmed. It was not covered and took 3 long nights of freezing down to 24f. It was not in active growing stage as i did not water it much.
Green sapote, covered in 30f looked so bad  so i brought it inside. It would die in 24f.

Yards look so sad around here.
I think i lost all atemoyas, mountain soursop, sugar apples, jacks, Barbados cherry, guavas, kwai muk.
Even lemon, orange, calamansi, pitomba look severely damaged but alive.
Cherry of the rio grande was no covered and leaves are still green.

Well... I got  here as low as 24f.and nights 26 and 30
Uncovered  larger redlands definitely has all leaves destroyed. Grafted golden globe on that tree looks like leaves are damaged but way less than redlands
Covered MacDill and yanghands look ok, just list new growth
Covered Campbell, the same size as above, looks totally fried...
Covered hunter is totally fine

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Diesel versus propane heaters

Propane tank top 1 head can last 24 hours. 2 nights for 12 hours. Creates a lot of heat 8ft away. The problem was the wind.

Still holding at 24 here.

I feel as though my efforts with propane was probably futile with the speed of the wind from the north. At this point I'm hoping for one success on the south side of the house. Dwarf Hawaiian had a propane heater and a electric heater in the winds or not so raging. Probably lost Juliet but I did dig up Carrie and bought that insurance mango Super Julie. Time will tell how the big trees did with the trunk wrap. I have a pretty good collection inside the house to start over. Because of the long duration I may run out of propane before morning break. At least I know I put forth Thegallant effort. I'm exhausted🙂

I am exhausted as well... Tank top heater worked on the screened patio and lowest was 38f while there was 24f in the yard. The same heater outside was shutdown by wind many times. After dealing with it till 1am, i had to bring it on the patio too but face it to the part of yard where pots were closer.
Jackfruit is dead, papayas and ross sapote look dead too. Mango probably too.....

Planning to place that heater near my half dead jackfruit and damaged mango tree.
The only problem is it is pretty windy....

We had 31f and white sapotes small in pots or in ground did not lose a leaf. I did not cover them.
Only younghans lost newly pushed growth, but mature leaves  look green.
Tomorrow night will be 24f.

13
Golden globe, California suebell and Campbell are blooming now too.

14
Both of mine have slightly fuzzy leaves. One from Mike, another one is from Everglades.
In comparison, Golden globe, California Sue Bell  and Hunters are way more  fuzzier.

15
2 yangmei trees i got were ok, not vigorous but grew 5-6 inches since then.
A week ago i noticed leaf browning and drop.
Both are pretty dead looking now. Sudden death syndrome....

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: Central Florida - Jan's Best mulberry

Tice is not the same as Shangri la. Tice leaves are gigantic, it grows like weed and no nematode damage.
I bought mine from Ft Mayers nursery. Shangri la has so much nematode damage in pot or ground so nods are so enlarged and visible from the surface.
Austurkey is worth growing. Large thick berries. Does get nematode damage.

I did. Nothing different from everbearing mulberry.

I was not successful in both.
Not sure why they are so hard even to airlayer.
Grafting seems to work with thicker cuttings. Thinner ones are all failed.

I could not yell the difference in taste of red and scarlet. Plants look different but fruit are very similar size, color and taste.
If i could grow muscadine grapes, i would prefer them since jabos seeds are larger and hard to separate from pulp.

Do Muscadines not do well in Florida? I’ve seen a few varieties on some online nurseries and have been tempted to get some, but I haven’t yet... my yard’s not well set up to handle vines.

The only jaboticaba I was really taken back with in flavor was the mozies. Iv tried quite a few different varieties and they do all have a somewhat common flavor, but the mozies tastes like a sweeter passionfruit easily my favorite jaboticaba!

That sounds intriguing! Which are the mozies?

For some reason they don't grow. Maybe too dry sand soil. Is not for them

I bought one and I'll never buy another. Flavor from my home grown pineapple that are ripened on the plant beats the pinkglow, gads even store bought are as good or better.

Much hype over nothing.

I didn't like the taste either. Plus, it is apparently GMO.

Yeah, it's got rna silencing to suppress the normal pigmentation, genes inserted from tangerine for the color, and genes inserted from transgenic tobacco inserted to confer herbicide resistance.

Now do Hawaiian Papaya, haha. I may have year old seeds finally sprouting up everywhere out of nowhere. I read they are GMO.

Only Rainbow variety of Hawaiian papaya is gmo. Others are good.

In central Florida they are already ripening. A little earlier than usual.
My fuyu never get bright color. As soon as they have yellow or orange spots, they are sweet and can be eaten

I just bought burnt lime for trees. I saw in other countries videos, they use it every spring to protect trees from pests plus sun protection.

Hello, does anyone have any updates on Siam Jumbo, how productive, how do you like it? I'm especially interested in how it does in Florida.

Thank you!

Very productive, growing fast. I love the fruit size and taste. Seems to be sensitive to nematodes. I will try to graft it on some resistant variety.
