This lady is in Orlando area, not China

??? But the tree she got from them and therefore the graft on it are not, and even her first citrus she got was girdled and failed and her replacement is ugly is really gnarly.  I'm confused, why does her location matter and not the origin of the tree--China? She may have received the tree in Orlando but tree came from China

It is illegal to bring citrus to fl from anywhere so I doubt her story of importing citrus.
I agree with you and would not buy trees from China without knowing the seller

June plum is the worst, no matter what your taste buds are.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Campbell White Sapote HELP?
« on: May 06, 2025, 05:48:43 PM »
I have 2 Campbells from Lara and Xains and both are very slow growing, i would say struggling in pots and  ground. Other varieties did not do it. I wonder if they need some extra iron or more acidic soil.

I have 5 varieties of Che and none of them have those thornes. Looks like Osage orange that Che is usually grafted to.

Thank you Bill for organizing it!
Both of my trees are growing!

Not sure if your mexacola is the same but mexacola i grew here had plum sized avocados, messy purple skin that is impossible to remove if you don't want to eat it, and nothing memorable  taste wise.

Both of my trees grafts looked like plastic tape got  into the bark deep. I didn't try to remove it.
Only now, one of them, Black Carbon, started showing signs of growth.

I got Eugenia pulcherrima. Second year.
Did not fruit. I find it very ornamental.
Beautiful large leaves. Always look green and glossy. No drying off or pests.
Did not drop a leaf during the winter.
Pic is as of today

I saw those flowers growing in Ormond beach, close to golden lion cafe. I took pics but didn't know they are edible.

He will send eventually, in 3-4 weeks.
Nice seeds collection but there is zero communication from him even if you try to message or email.

I like all fruits but durian. I am not able to get passed that smell.  There is no taste worth going through that smell.

I had golden nugget. I liked the taste, but fruitflies ruined the most of them. The tree was always covered with fungus no matter what i did.  I replaced with argellino/angellino not sure. Also I tried Oliver in  one of central florida nurseries and was impressed by the size, taste and the look of the tree they planted on their property. I might graft it later onto my tree

Marmalade is what i have in my mind for red lime!

I have not tried Eustis, but red lime is great and nothing like lime. The skin is like kumquat sweet and thin, orange color. Inside is orange and sweet just enough to eat. For comparison, i can't eat calamansi or limes.
I bought the tree after trying it.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: How long before you know if a graft takes?
« on: February 27, 2025, 04:50:26 PM »
I grafted 4 weeks ago and the growth is more than an inch on both. I removed the tape, but kept the rubber band. It's red lime on lemon and on key lime. It did not take on the orange tree at all

June plum

I find June plum (Spondias dulcis), the yellow/ orange type when ripe are excellent. A delicious sweet tart balance- almost insatiable. Top 5 fruits for me. The red ripe type while much sweeter, has very little flesh.
I don't know... I had a yellow one. Little flesh, horribly fibrous and ripening takes at least a year of hanging on the tree.

Speaking of mulberries, Jan's best was no better than everbearing.
