You too? Say it ain't so! It took me about that long too. Had a couple of Kei Apples that never flowered after 8.

I think what you are trying to do is going to be difficult. Even if they work such as the one you suggested how do we know it would taste good? I have diospyros texana and kaki and hybrids growing in proximity to each other and I haven't noticed them being more seedy than usual. The Texana I have always has male flowers. It's a tough cross you're looking for. Keep up the work. If you can do it you will definitely have something special. Also try to reach out to people who are doing research at universities. They don't taste like pumpkin or sweet potatoes? It seems like it would have that "vegetable" since it has high amounts or betacarotene. How small is small? I learned that there are some softball to baseball sized varieties. Those would interest me. Two last questions. Why would the size influence the amount of time it takes to ripen? When are we planning in the road trip!?!?!

I hate to say it. I was there last year and the evwnt was not that great and THERE WERE NO LOQUATS TO BE FOUND when I showed up. I bought a very over priced Oliver for 60 bucks. I had planned on trying many and I actually had none. .

Khaled? Is it a relative of Algerie? I think Algerie is the parent of piera. I intend to get some of them when they become available again on Lubera. What I can report is NC, SC and coastal Virginia should be able to grow loquats unprotected in more regions because of climate change.  I am personally interested in funding research to grow more of the Chinese fruits and vegetables that are not available in the US. They have 5000 yrs of food cultuvars that we don't have and if they can come up with a spring flowering loquat we need it here.
