I can't speak from experience, but my recollection from various threads on this topic is the most common rootstocks are cherimoya and pond apple.  There's a table of known compatibility somewhere if you search the forum, though it isn't very complete.

I had an illama and I have a cherilata that were grafted on pond apple and both
had issues at the union. The illama was the worst and had a boot that looked ready to
snap. The atemoyas in my yard that were grafted onto cherimoya you can barely
see the union or not at all

I have tried everything on pond apple and I can tell you that it is not the rootstock you want for Atemoya.
Perhaps for Cherilata but certainly not for atemoya.
You go to is Cherimoya as was previously noted.  Some people have also recorded some success with soursop though I have not had much luck with it.

If you have pond apple that you wish to graft to, then I suggest you get Cherilata or soursop scions.  You may also get some Cherimoya scions if you wish to use them as interstock to graft your atemoya on to.  I had some success with a couple of Cherimoya varieties on pond apple and then I grafted atemoya on to the cherimoya.

If you are going to buy seed to grow rootstock, just get cherimoya.

I have tried squamosa, reticulata, montana, muricata as rootstock for Atemoya. Grafts/ buds taken on all of the rootstocks.
The worst performance was by montana—stunned growth. Plants die after leaf out in winter.
Healthy bud growth was observed in muricata. But in this case also, no new leaf sprouts after winter.
The health of the bud/ graft plant depends on the variety of atemoya on reticulata rootstocks. For most varieties, the plant seems to be unhealthy with pale, narrow leaves and slender stems (but it survives).
There was absolutely no problem with squamosa rootstocks, here in the tropics. Plants grow healthy and some may flower within a year.

I found cherimoya is the best rootstock in SoCal whether it's in container. All my friends who have Sugar Apple require greenhouse for them to do decent. Alot of them in OC without greenhouse do badly or die. I suspect if you are in Canada, I wouldn't even bother with Sugar Apple but grow atemoya or cherimoya instead.

Here is a 3 in 1 atemoya grafted on cherimoya. Full of roots after digging out 2 years ago.

My sugar apples are overally pretty unhealthy but container atemoya and in-ground (in greenhouse) cherimoya, rollinia, and soursop do great.  I am guessing the sugar apples are just too wet, but I am honestly not sure what their problem is.

Sugar apple needs temps in the 80s to really grow well. Even here in Central Florida they have a hard time hitting their stride until about April or May. I think most people's problems with SA in California or greenhouse culture are due to a lack of heat.

most ateymoyas are not compatible with annoa glabra rootstock. Some may graft but incompatibilities seem to show up after a year or two.  When choosing to grow annonas one should decide which rootstock is appropriate for your specific soil, climate and conditions. Then find a way to grow your target species. Using an interstock may be useful but that does add complexity to the overall tree which we are still studying.

For example if you want to grow annonas is California, cherimoya is probably your best rootstock. If you are in a warm FL zone 9b swamp pond apple might be your best choice.  Many residential yards in Florida are elevated and cherimoya or ateymoya rootstocks would be appropriate roostock choices.

On my farm we are working with lots of pond apple rootstocks.  The are being planted below grade where they sit in lots of water. We and are testing interstock and graft compatibilities.
