Flying mango scions
EuroFruit:
Hello,
I need advice from people experienced in grafting mango and annona trees.
I'll be receiving some scions tomorrow from a sunny state in the United States. They travelled 13 days across the Atlantic ocean.
Some are wrapped in buddy tape and others in zip bags with a damp towel.
I'm wondering what type of pretreatment to apply before grafting them. I have several ideas, but I'd like your opinion:
-Cut them and soak them in water for 24 hours to rehydrate them.
-Spray them with a copper-based fungicide.
-Remove the buddy tape and replace it with fresher tape before grafting.
On YouTube, Dr. Richard Campbell says that scions can be stored for 15 days in a zip bags, so I still have some hope!
Thank you for your help.

I got a similar mix last month but mine only took about 8 days to arrive. For the mango scions that came unwrapped, I snipped off the ends, dipped them in a cup of water overnight (they arrived in the evening) and grafted early the next day. The annonas and some mangoes were wrapped in buddy tape and I just grafted them like that and had nearly 80% take overall. One thing I observed was that swollen buds on the mango scions were not necessary because they eventually all dried up and the scions had to push from previously dormant buds.
Good luck!
