Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Guide to Posting Pictures
« on: December 28, 2025, 09:04:17 AM »
Sorry for the bump but can someone explain the easiest way to add pictures? The “add image to post” is gone and I suck with computers. Thanks in advance,

Simon

The Add image to post is still showing up on my end. Is it not showing up for everyone else?

What's the name of your nursery? What's the cost per tree?

What varieties of persimmon do you have? Are they grafted?

Anyone interested in trading some good quality California cherimoyas now for Florida mangos next summer?

I like the Pierce cherimoya but I am open to any other really good tasting ones also.

I can get a lot of different mango varieties so if we do this trade, you'll just send me a list of the mango varieties you're interested in and I'll send whichever ones I can get from that list.

Thanks!

Hello, pineapple enthusiasts.  I'm looking for Cabezona and Gigante de Tarauacá slips, suckers, or crowns.  If you have material available, please DM with a price.

Thanks!

I think  Xain's has Cabezona but I'm not sure if they ship.

I started my mango collection in 2019 on the West African Coast with polyembryonic seeds from Tropical Acres. None have fruited yet but the Corne and Ivory seedlings flowered last year so I'm hoping for some fruit this season. The Ivory tree is the cleanest of all and I've taken it as a good sign that it will be disease resistant.

I also recently started growing grafted trees but I don't have enough information yet. I also have a 6-year old topworked NDM 4 that flowers and sets more and more fruit every year. However, it's a disease magnet so if you can spray your tree, then it should be fine. The rest of my grafted trees are too small to fruit but I'll be watching out for flowers this dry season. I can already see the ones that will likely have disease issues from their leaves but perhaps they might power through.

I should tell you that the Sahara has a beneficial effect on our climate so although it's a close comparison, it's not the same thing. Good luck in your search.

A forum member imported a bunch of grafted Florida mango trees into Sierre Leone a few years ago. If the trees are still alive, would that be an easier source of budwood for you compared to getting it from the US?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to make sure I’m up to date with the latest best practices for shipping durian seeds.

From what I’ve gathered so far, the recommended method is to ship perfectly cleaned seeds in slightly damp coco coir or sphagnum moss, inside a ziplock bag with a few small air holes for ventilation. Is that still considered the best approach?

I’ve also read that viable shipping time ranges from about 1 week up to sometimes 3 weeks. On the other hand, I even saw a YouTube video claiming seeds could survive up to 4 months in damp styrofoam, which sounds… surprising to me.

I’d really appreciate your input, experiences, and advice on:

The best packing medium (coco coir vs sphagnum vs anything else),

How damp it should be,

Realistic shipping time limits before germination rates drop too much.

Cheers,
Mathieu

If you're ordering from Maryoto, ask him what has worked best for his customers.

I think the methods you described should be fine also. If fungicide is allowed, that may also be helpful.

Thank you both. I checked the medium and it looks okay. It's not overly wet or dry, but I think previously, it may have dried out a little so I think that may have been it.

It's also not root bound.

I'll keep an eye on the soil and watering and see what happens.

Many thanks for the ID! Anyone knows if Durian seeds can be mail ordered from Borneo? Or is the short viability of seeds preventing it?

Yes, they can. There are a few great sellers that sell different Durio species seeds from Borneo. I've known people who have recieved the viable seeds that were shipped via DHL.

Maryoto is a long time seller of seeds from Borneo. You can try to reach out to him: https://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1788

The only place I know right now that has anything along those lines is Nick's Edibles in St. Cloud. I bought a 3 gallon Triumph tree from him recently and I think he still has a couple left. Definitely call to confirm before making the drive.

Inventory Link

Thanks. If I decide to go the route of buying a tree, I'll reach out to him.

are you grafting them now

No, but I am trying to find a source for the budwood. I have a friend that is looking for the varieties but needs the budwood early next year.

When is cherimoya season in California?

Citrus General Discussion / Lemon tree dropping leaves
« on: November 28, 2025, 11:56:39 AM »
I have a lemon tree is 5-1-1 mix. It's been in that mix for about 1.5 years. Recently it started dropping green leaves. I'd say it's dropped about 1/3 of the green leaves in the last 3 months or so.

I water and fertilize regularly.

Any ideas on some possible causes?

Thanks!

Sibabat is delicious. Do you have a source for the fresh fruit in the US or did you have the seeds mailed to you?

Anyone have any 'South Florida' or 'Triumph' persimmon budwood to share? Thanks!

The tour was the first appearance of these random flying gnats that kept up for the next two days. They seem to be endemic to that part of Georgia. It was surreal to see so many acres of citrus in Georgia
The main problems according to the growers, were marketing the fruit as with the Georgia rainfall made the satsumas huge! Way too big to market as cutie size.

I didn't get to make it on Friday for the farm tours but I was there on Saturday. If they do this next year, I will definitely try to make it to the tours as well.

I hope someone filmed the lectures

Lou filmed them. I think the video will be available sometime in the near future.

I think you may have gotten them from the same Fresh Market that I went to. I stopped in randomly at a Fresh Market in Port St. Lucie on my drive south from Vero. I bought some Dellerman pineapples from AKOHO this weekend as well.

Check with Montoso Gardens. They had a nutmeg tree last time I was there around 15 years ago.
