Anyone know of a source where I can get 25-50 or so plants?
Thanks lol

Looks like I need to be in California for this one lol.

Hey Ryan. So far the only thing I can find out here is 1gal and above. I plan on searching for more soon. I'll ask around and see if I can find some shippable seedlings. Oh btw, I added you on facebook - Mojo Fruits ;D

Myrica cerifera is growing very well for me here in Southern CA. I have not looked for Myrica californica plants recently, recall it being more expensive and harder to find. The native plant movement in CA prices a premium on it.

Try Mahonia Nursery out of Salem, Oregon. Best wholesale prices ive seen for M. californica and the only website to bother updating their inventory for 2023. Availability and prices listed below from their current catalog. Only thing I couldnt confirm is if they ship out of state. Good luck

If you want to call evergreen nursery carmel valley road location in san diego and see if thry have it, I will go buy a few and send you some.

Moosa Creek Nursery has/had them, also native west nursery has/had them but you need a contractor, landscape architect/architect license, etc to buy through them. Or you can request Walter Anderson to get you some as they go up and purchase lots of plants from San Marcos growers, which you can also buy from SMG directly but they also have prerequisites that are required before anybody could purchase.

Moon Valley bought them out, so that nursery is pretty cost prohibitive. Really miss Evergreen

Not californica but cerifera, good for grafting.

Have you attempted grafting on Myrica pensylvanica? Can't find anything online about its compatibility with M. rubra, all focus on M. cerifera. Seems like a good spp. to try for cold hardiness?
-
Glad I bought a nice stash of m. cerifera about a year ago. Nice sized for grafting now, and hardy plants.
I recommend you buy some m. cerifera seedlings and grow them out, and graft in summer. Just baby your new yangmei trees in the meantime.
-
Would you folks suggest picking up some Myrica cerifera seedlings over Myrica californica?

I have a plant but it got wrecked lol. I know it's cold hardy and all, but it really looks bad after we took that huge freeze. My other trees were all fine though...go figure. I'm glad cerifera does well in CA. as long as I can use a good quality rootstock we chilling. Got some cerifera from a friend! Just trying to get whatever I can find now. Things gonna go big soon...
