I enjoy it quite a bit. Doesn't seem to have any disease problems here in sarasota, FL. Just ate some a few days ago. Thicker skinned than typical cuke, but crunchy and nice mild flavor.
I'm also experimenting with some other cucurbit cucumber alternatives for florida summer, cucumber metuliferus the jelly melon or african horned and burr gherkin cucumber anguria. Can't report on those yet.
Maybe I should have made this thread about cucumber alternatives...

I grow tindora (coccinia grandis) which is very productive and easy. I often hear it called perennial cucumber, but this is not quite a good description. Green I prefer it cooked or pickled, red and ripe i enjoy it raw. I Anyone grow any other species?

Did not protect. But has other trees growing close. Old tree maybe 25 foot. Bumper crop this year. Just sold 34 lbs last night. Put 2 gallon bags in freezer. Counter is covered and have away probably 6 shopping bags to friends. Happy lunar new year.

Anyone have any yams they want to trade? I have a fee types of bulbifera: Hawaii and Mexico. As well as a few alata cultivars: Emperor(i think was the name)) purple, another purple, yellow and white fleshed alatas.

Got some seeds off a beautiful large purple skinned and pink fleshed A reticulata (or perhaps hybrid?). Really excited to germinate some of these. Attempted last year , but success rate was pretty low. Anybody have some pro tips?
