KP goes toe to toe with VP here. For some reason it doesnt sound like its as vigorous over there?
I need to take a few picks of the street trees soon as they are dripping with mangoes and will soon make a massive mess over the roads.

For me, powdery mildew susceptible.  It seems anthracnose resistant.  Flavor is twangy and sweet.  Not my favorite, but some people think a lot of it. Impressive sized fruit and nice coloration on the exterior.

From all I have ever heard and read Valencia Pride is your boy. Meanwhile in S Florida the mango trees are getting ready for another gripping mango season with forum members already reporting panicles. 13 is an unlucky number but my crystal ball says the 2013 mango harvest will be all good...... if we survive the December 21st Mayan apocalypse

Moderately vigorous to vigorous:  PPK, Van Dyke, Madame Frances, Bailey's Marvel, Bombay, Edward, Haden, Jakarta, Kent, Southern Blush, Spirit of 76

The way I look at it, many mangoes grow with the relative same or similar vigor.  For me, there are vigorous growers, moderate growers and dwarf/semi dwarf.  At the slow/non vigorous end of the spectrum are Ice cream, Pickering, and Julie.  Then you have the next level up with the likes of Cogshall being representative. Also in the mid-range are Rosiegold, Maha Chanok, Carrie, and Nam Doc Mai.  At my house also slower growing and not in the high vigor category  are Spirit of 76, Falang, Palmer, Parvin, and Duncan, but this could be idiosyncratic to my yard and trees.  Pretty much everything else grows with pretty good vigor with good growing culture.  I guess I can single a few out as being particularly vigorous in my yard. They are Valencia Pride, Bombay, Jakarta, Eweis, Mallindi, Alphonso (but, regarding Alphonso, this could also be a function of never putting on a crop of fruit), and Southern Blush

every time I see a batch of 3gal grafted mangoes from Zill, the largest ones seem to be PPK.

My baileys marvel is close to my Valencia pride mango is vigor. They are both much faster growers than my other trees.  I like the baileys marvel taste better than the VP but my wife is opposite.

I've eaten about 5 VP's, from different trees, and I don't like the taste too much.

Maybe I've had bad luck.  They seem to be popular.

Baileys on the other hand, was amazing..and had huge filets when I was done cleaning the seed!

I was amazed by the shape of the mango, and how they slice up....and of course the great taste.

None of them have outperformed the manilla seedling. granted the one i have is not from home depot, but it is growing like crazy and likely to hit 12' this year. hopefully next year it flowers so I can begin growing those as root stock

0-15 (Tree is young but it has grown well so far)

Val-Carrie is not vigorous but more of a moderate grower but appears highly productive as I have many small fruits developing this year.

Yes, PPK is fast and vigorous.

I must have an oddball rootstock because my PPK has been very slow for 3 years. It flushes 2 times per year tops. I’ve grafted a backup into my Angie and that branch is definitely outpacing Angie so I very well could have a dwarfing rootstock.

Sunrise has been in constant growth mode this year but it took a year to actually get started.

The Manila I’m talking about was put into the ground from a 15 gallon, and has taken off. For some odd reason I’ve had better success with trees going I tot he ground after growing in pots to a larger size. I have ppk, CAC, and orange sherbet which I received as 1 gallons last year. The CAC and orange sherbet I put into the ground and they really stalled out, and have grown with very very close internode spacing and small leaves. The leaves are finally coming out normal size and I’m hoping the internode spacing starts getting larger and I get some good growth.

The PPK went for. 1 to 3 gallon last year and just got potted up to 5 gallon and is pushing new growth and easily double the size of the in ground trees.

I put one of the sweet tart scions you sent on the Manila that is kicking ass, but I’ve left the rest of the tree ungrafted. Want give the fruit a go before I decide on working it over as it is such a star performer
