Cherilata Fruit Pictures - please
« on: August 31, 2021, 12:33:01 PM »
I am interested in seeing what a Cherilata fruit looks like from just formed to ready to pick.
If you have pictures could you kindly share or point me to a link.  I have a couple of Cherilata plants that seem to be doing well (on pond apple rootstock) and I want to know what the fruit looks like.

I have several flowers and one fruit from a previous flowering.

I will post a picture later.

Nice, the Birula looks great.  You have a touch with annonas.
The cherilata grew back very nice.  Will you prune anytime soon or in the spring?
The cherilata that I have, the one that has the one fruit on it, came from a scion you gave me.
I grafted it on a small pond apple tree, and the fruit is high in the tree.  It looks like the fruit in the picture.  I am looking forward to getting the fruit when it is ready to pick.

Have you harvested the fruit from your tree and when is a good time to pick it.

Unfortunately, I did not pick my Cherilata fruit and it dropped - and to compound it, I did not get to it is a couple of days and the rodents got to it first.

I had visited this tree almost everyday for a month waiting for the fruit to turn color and give a sign it was ready to pick.  I got super busy about a week ago and took the opportunity of first thing Saturday morning to check and alas, the fruit was missing.  Fortunately it was still on the ground half eaten but at least I get to process seeds and satisfy myself what the inside of the fruit looked like.

No worries, there are a couple more small fruits that formed (no I did not hand pollinate these ones) so I should get a chance to to taste it in a few months.

Two dozen seeds and chunks and chunks of flesh now had n my compost bin.  The mell was almost intoxicating, I will certainly be looking forward to this fruit.

Only 20 in the picture, the rest didn't look well formed

Here is a picture of a new fruit forming.  I plan to keep a closer watch on these ones.

Put plastic clam shells on the fruits, when they are nearing maturity.  Sooner makes haven for meally bugs.
