Here in the southeast of Brazil call this Gulosa da mata atlantica fruit is very tasty, in the forest it is with a 4 m high, few people cultivate because it is too slow!

Alexendre, is this second one the saputa-acu, Peritassa laevigata?  I just found info on that one while looking up this Salacia.  That one sounds nice too ... (Sorry to get off on a tangent, Luc, but it is always nice to find out more about some of these uncommon fruits).

The native saputá here is the common Saputá (Cheiloclinium cognatum), the fruit is of good taste, but it is difficult to separate the seeds from the pulp, Saputa açu (Peritassa Laevigata) is not native here in my region (East of the State of Minas Gerais ) I have 2 plants in cultivation, were sent to me by Helton, it is extremely slow!

Salacia Elliptica here is a tree of about 4 m, the fruit is yellow and husky, hard to extract the pulp from the seeds

Fruits posted by Luc seem different, but delicious!

The Luc its fruit, if you have a small size, can be Salacia micrantha a salacia pulp and green translucent shell.

It is a 5 to 7 meter tall tree , fruits are up to 12 cm x 8 cm , those I got were smaller ( 9 x 7 cm ) . Fruits stick to the branches like with the Abiu . Pulp is sweet , I'd say slightly sweet , nice smell and taste .
