How should I prune a red atemoya?
« on: November 07, 2022, 04:17:31 AM »
I planted this red atemoya about five months ago.

It's been consistently growing on those two main branches.

Should I trim them back to encourage branching as in deciduous trees?

My idea was to let it grow up to the black zone, and then let it form a canopy.

I would leave it alone.

I had one growing the same way but i have to keep it tight due to lack of growing space, so i staked the larger of the 2 branches up and trimmed the other one down a bit to see where it will branch and form  2 "canopy" like sections on the tree. Just pinched the main trunk when it got to the right hight and it branched out nicely.
