Achacha help
« on: September 02, 2023, 01:57:18 PM »
I got my achacha tree about a month ago, potted up to 25 gal. It’s in basically full sun and the leaves have slowly started to brown. I’m hoping it’s just the sun. I also fertilized a little with osmocote to help it settle in. One leaf looks extra odd. Please help. Thank you.

I’m interested in this as well. I have a lemon drop mangosteen that started getting tip burn and all the new leafs would come out deformed and yellow. This all started after a fairly light application of osmocote.

Garcinias seem to sunburn easily.  I have also had burnt leaves and deformed new growth.  They got shocked when I moved them into strong sunlight but after some time seem to have adjusted and tthe new tender growth in mostly full sun is doing okay.  I need to be more careful when I bring them out of the greenhouse each spring.

I doubt osmocote is causing it.

It wasn’t in much shade when I picked it up and it’s been in the same spot for a month now. Do you guys think I should move it into shade or just let it figure itself out

Since it's already burned, you may as well leave it where it's at. It's probably adapted to the sun at this point and burned what it was going to burn.
