It’s not a guarantee but chances are high.

According to K-Rimes it’s a 70% chance.

I found the study that I was remembering back then.

https://www.cabidigitallibrary.org/doi/pdf/10.5555/20193084307

Now, having had many different pitangas, and seedlings thereof, it can vary a fair amount from the parent but it's usually pretty close.

If these become available for shipment, let me know. Very much interested.

I bought some seeds for this back when they were first being offered, but unfortunately they weren't viable by the time they got to me through customs.

I received my tree today, thank you. It almost looks like a variegated tree, so I didn't know what it was until I checked the tracking number.
Tree is very healthy; hope it fruits in a few years. I know a friend who has the Spira Surinam Cherry and he said the seedlings from his tree seems to have fruits that tastes similar to the mother tree. I have his seedling Spira tree and it has been fruiting already so I hope to taste that fruit next year.

Now I need to find someone who has a large tree for me to dig up cheap so I can use it as rootstock for these good tasting varieties.

Both trees came happy and healthy, and are now potted in their new larger homes. :) Thanks again!

I got my tree, looks healthy, but not sure if it is 7yrs old. Seems a little on the small side for a 7yr old.

These are definitely 7 years old. That’s how long ago I purchased the seed from Miguel. You can keep surinams small by keeping them in smaller pots. As soon as you plant them in a larger pot they will take off. Not easy to ship a 5 gallon or 15 gallon plant, hence the post for sale of 1 gallon plants. These have survived a few frosts here in San Francisco.

This variety seems to change color significantly throughout the year. New growth being very light yellow in color, getting red in fall and green in the winter or in the shade. Two plants in this batch have
deep burgundy new growth.

Ok, sounds good. Thanks again, I will take care of this one, put it in a larger pot in a few weeks.
