Need trellis ideas, please help!
« on: June 20, 2025, 06:04:46 AM »
I’m trying to strategize how to set up trellises for various passion fruits which require full sun but won’t get ripped up and blown into a neighbor’s house during the awful hurricane season.  What do others do/use that is sturdy and can withstand these bothersome weather conditions?  All ideas appreciated, thanks!

I've done a few arched trellises made by bending a 16 ft. cattle panel in between two T-posts and zip tying the cattle panel to the T-posts.  They've held up great through any storms that have come through.

That’s so cool! What varieties or species are you planning to grow?

I ran stainless bailing wire in a fan shape from the above ground planter up the side of my house

I use mexican sunflower as a natural trellis. Its fast growing and sturdy. The passion vines crawl all over them and when its time to prune i cut both the vine and the sunflower bush back all in one swing. It really works great here in central florida.
