TAIWANESE Jujubes (Ziziphus mauritiana)-superior varieties

I really think those of us in the US are missing out. I have gone down a short Taiwanese jujube superior varieties rabbit hole (not the same as Thai jujube varieties). These things have like 19 brix, crisp, juicy, crunchy. People who know seem to rave about them, very much superior to Thai or Chinese jujubes. Im talking varieties like Tainung No. 13 — “Shirley” (台農13號 雪麗),Kaohsiung 11 — Tainung No. 9 — “New Honey King”...ect.

Does anyone in the US have any of these? I see online listing occasionally but there's enough red flags to believe they are not true to claimed variety. Does anyone have an exceptionally good (even unnamed) Taiwanese variety jujube?

I have Tao Dai Mat. I think it's a few generation behind Shirley. Friend have even a newer variety than shirly called, Kim Dai Mat. https://hocviennongnghiep.com/san-pham/cay-tao-kim-dai-mat-tao-dai-mat/

It's a tasty fruit (sweet and juicy), very productive, vigorous, and low maintenance. It ripen during Winter when there aren't too many fruits hanging around in SoCal.

Thats good to hear theres something out there thats actually named! I have read Tao Dai Mat and Kim Dai Mat is good but not on the level of some of the later varieties. Curious how you rate the fruit between Kim Dai Mat and Tao Dai Mat and premium Chinese jujubes?

I have Sandia, Chico, Li, Sugarcane, etc. Chinese jujube is dry, crunchier, smaller and sweeter. Taiwanese/Thai variety are juicier, larger ripen after Chinese jujube already dormant.

Kankan, the names you listed are not Vietnamese varieties.  They are Taiwanese.

I have Tao Dai Mat, I agree it’s Taiwanese. I’ve yet taste the fruit.
I have 10-20 Chinese Jujube. So far, I like Dong Zao, Pan Zao, Chico, Black Sea.

Kankan, the names you listed are not Vietnamese varieties.  They are Taiwanese.

UGH! not sure why I typed Vietnamese...yes, Taiwanese!
