Damn, those are some tough first round match-ups!  Mangosteen vs mango???  Lychee vs Avocado?  Depends on the day for each of these.

Group A is so stacked; I'm really curious whether durian or pineapple will win lmao, or banana and coconut is a really hard one too. So many good ones!

I had to vote for the one I've tasted (and really like) over the one I've never tasted.  Sorry, durian- and mangosteen-lovers.

There might be some heavy bias towards sub tropical fruits based on the majority of users location on this forum results would be different if SE asia was included, however pretty cool idea.

No way on earth does a mango beat a mangosteen, nor does an avacado beat a lychee.  And If durian doesnt win this could be the most corrupt olympics on record

Durian is very good. After trying good ones I'm happy. Just not many people here in US that like it.
Mangosteen is good, but you haven't had a good FL mango. Lychee is so much better than avocado, but the avocado gang here is very large...

Lychee are better than avocados as a sweet treat but if you have to actually eat them as a staple in your diet I rather have an avocado everyday.

Mangosteen is more unusual than mango.

Durian is more interesting than pineapple.

Avocado is healthier than lychee.

Dragonfruit is more diverse than sapodilla.

Mangosteen vs a single variety of mango, I'd go mangosteen. So mango different types of mango though so I gave the edge to mango.

Durian is better than pineapple, not even a competition. Never heard of someone flying to another country to try the pineapple (I imagine commercial growers or researchers have though) but durian addicts will travel the tropics in their hunt for different durians.

Everything is relative! For me and some other folks who grow and have tasted pineapples it is the best. Durian on the other hand is just a word it is abstract to me because I'll probably never have a chance to taste one. So to me the pineapple is better. I would think even if you flew the globe looking for the perfect Durian timing would be Paramount. Now if the Pineapple was compared to the Goldenapple. I could cast a vote.

Look I know to the people in florida it sounds crazy but I swear... I'd have a mangosteen over a mango any day.

Only issue is mangosteens make that yellow sap when they're overripe and you never really know if you have a 11/10 perfect one or not until you open it,
but if we are gonna assume 2 perfectly ripened fruit I'd go mangosteen 100%. they should be like 3x as big to feel 'satisfied' from just one

not tryna start a war lmao

Love fruits and want to grow them all, but if I could only have one, no doubt it would be avocados!  Same for my husband Scott, can I vote for him, too?  ;D

I'd have to agree with the avocado growers.  I wish I had room for two more trees.

Durian addicts have been known to swim across oceans and take SMS loans to get hold of the heavenly durian! ;)

Seriously, Jackfruit against Loquat, you didn't even let Loquat get into the Stadium with underwear on!

Same for me mangosteen over mango, even though I love mango!
When I am training for hill running in Thailand a bulk bag of 10kg mangosteen will be good enough for 2 days of lunch. It's amazing food, IMO shouldn't be seen as a desert of some petite snack.

If Durian doesn't win Lychee must be on MKP and Pineapple on Russian Potash!
We should form a testing committee to keep it clean.
