Some kind of orange it looks like to me. I would crush a leaf and see how it smells to tell more.
Not trifoliate obviously, and doesn't look like lemon leaf shape, and doesn't look like pummelo/shaddock (petioles aren't very large)
-
Yeah, not trifoliata. It doesn't quite look like rough lemon to me, although I can't quite rule it out.
Perhaps sour orange? It's a common rootstock for oranges. And I believe it has those distinct but slender petioles.
-
Going by common rootstocks, It looks like Citrus macrophylla, aka Alemow or Colo. Bit soon to tell but foliage is lime like which is a match.
Orange seedlings tend to have trowel/triangular shaped leaves.
Sour Orange tends to have slightly wide petioles and scented leaves. Smooth Seville has grapefruit like leaves, with thin petiole.
-
Sour orange petioles are not slender but are quite winged.
-
I have sur orange and it has much bigger leaves
-
My experience with sour orange is limited to the single seedling I have. Although I must say it rather resembles the rootstock in question, at least so far.
I am inclined towards the opinion that it's an alemow, now.
Perhaps comparing to the images at http://citruspages.free.fr/trifoliates.php would be helpful? (It's about rootstocks, not just trifoliata.)

Cleopatra (Cleo for short) tangerine would be my guess. Cleo, sour orange and lemons are the common monofloiate rootstocks that I am familiar with. Lemon leaves have a slightly scalloped margin, and sour orange has more of a wing on the petiole. Cleo has small leaves. So that seems to fit with your picture. I supose there are plenty of other things it could be including a couple other tangerine types, but Cleo would seem to be the most common option.
-
Cleopatra has small pointed leaves, like most of the small fruited seedy mandarin species.

Good point, the leaf tip does look rounded.

Thanks for the replies, I crushed a leaf and it smells like orange/tangerine anyway.

got this email from the nursery.
Good afternoon,
our citrus fruits have 80% Volkamerian (Citrus Volkameriana) as rootstock,
10% Citrumelo (Poncirus Trifoliata for Citrus Paradisi)
and 10% Bitter Orange (Citrus Aurantium).
For further questions please do not hesitate to contact us
then it must be bitter orange.

How about you send them the pic, they should be able to easily tell from sight.
If it is sour orange, they should be able to narrow the type down, there are several strains used as rootstock seeds, and sour orange hybrids too.
Generally they should know what rootstocks they are using under clementine, possibly not all their list are suitable or used.

I have a macrophylla rootstock on my lemon tree and the new growth looks similar to yours.

If those are the three options, I would have to go with the lemon. It is not trifoliate so the citrimello (presumably Swingle) is out and there is very little petiole so sour orange would be unlikely. I guess that I missed that onee by a mile.
-
I have volkamer rootstock (large tree now) and it doesn't look that much like yours. I will need to take a few photos of the leaves to compare.

Here is my volk. I think the petioles do not match
